Extropic is hiring an Experimental Physicist to help characterize and validate our novel computing architectures. The ideal candidate would be someone with a deep understanding of experimental methodology, solid experience in microelectronics characterization, and strong signal processing and data analysis capabilities to extract insights from complex experimental data.

Required Experience
  • Experience designing and executing experiments for characterizing microelectronic devices and circuits (I-V characteristics, noise measurements, high-frequency response, temperature dependencies)
  • Proficiency in experimental signal processing and data analysis (filtering, FFT analysis, statistical analysis, and noise characterization)Hands-on experience with laboratory instrumentation (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, source-measure units, probe stations)Experience temperature-controlled measurements and understanding of device physics at varying temperature regimes
  • Strong background in developing custom measurement setups and automation scripts for data acquisition
  • Experience analyzing non-linear dynamics, stochastic processes, or analog computing primitives
  • Understanding of information theory, and statistical mechanics as applied to physical systems
  • Proficiency in data analysis programming with experience in scientific computing Experience correlating experimental results with theoretical models and simulation data
  • Ability to work collaboratively with circuit designers to iterate on device and architecture designs


Preferred Experience
  • PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field with focus on experimental work
  • Experience with neuromorphic computing, analog computing, or unconventional computing architectures
  • Background in mesoscopic physics, semiconductor device physics, or quantum transport
  • Experience with high-speed digital sampling and real-time data processing
  • Familiarity with machine learning techniques for experimental data analysis and pattern recognition
  • Experience with CMOS device characterization or semiconductor fabrication processes
  • Publications demonstrating ability to extract physical insights from experimental data
  • Experience building or contributing to measurement databases and data pipelines for device characterization
