Job Description

Position Summary

Wentworth Institute of Technology invites applications for the position of Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach. This full-time, 12-month administrative position provides leadership for all aspects of the University's NCAA Division III women’s lacrosse program, including student-athlete development, competitive success, recruitment, program administration, and strategic planning.

Consistent with Wentworth's strategic priorities of Inclusive Excellence, Transformative Student Experience, and High-Value Learning, the Head Coach creates an environment where students are challenged academically, athletically, and personally while representing Wentworth with professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to the University's mission and values.

The Head Coach serves as an educator, mentor, and leader who develops a culture of accountability, belonging, teamwork, competitive excellence, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership for all aspects of the program while developing student-athletes, hiring, supervising, mentoring, and evaluating assistant coaches, collaborating with colleagues across the University, responsibly stewarding program resources, and strengthening relationships with alumni, supporters, and external partners in support of the long-term success of Wentworth Women’s Lacrosse.

Scope of Responsibility

Program Leadership & Administration

  • Provide strategic leadership and administrative oversight for all aspects of the NCAA Division III women’s lacrosse program, establishing competitive goals, setting program expectations, and cultivating a positive, accountable, and student-centered team culture.

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the program, including:

    • Planning and conducting practices

    • Preparing for competition

    • Developing game strategy

    • Scheduling contests

    • Coordinating team travel

    • Overseeing equipment management

    • Evaluating program performance

  • Manage the program budget, support fundraising and alumni engagement initiatives, and fulfill all fiscal and administrative responsibilities in a timely and responsible manner.

  • Recruit, supervise, and mentor a part-time assistant coaching staff by providing ongoing mentorship, regular feedback, and opportunities for professional development.

Recruitment & Enrollment

  • Recruitment at Wentworth is viewed as the foundational step of long-term student retention and success. The Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach provides strategic leadership for recruiting and roster management that reflects the values of Wentworth Institute of Technology and the Wentworth Athletics Department.

  • Working collaboratively with Enrollment Management and Athletics and Student Affairs leadership, develop and execute an annual recruiting strategy that supports institutional and program enrollment goals while identifying student-athletes who will thrive academically, socially, and competitively at Wentworth.

  • Cultivate relationships with prospects and their families, clearly articulating the unique value of a Wentworth education and the University's commitment to student success and professional development.

Student-Athlete Development

  • Beyond competition, the Head Coach is committed to the holistic development of student-athletes by promoting academic success, leadership development, personal well-being, and competitive excellence.

  • Partner actively with cross-institutional colleagues to support student well-being, academic achievement, leadership development, personal accountability, and overall student success.

  • Encourage student-athletes to engage fully in the academic, leadership, and co-curricular opportunities available through the University.

Departmental & Institutional Engagement

  • Alongside primary coaching duties, full-time head coaches are assigned a secondary duty or administrative responsibility that is reviewed and assigned annually based on the candidate’s qualifications, seasonal responsibilities, and department needs.

  • Support Athletics Department operations through game management responsibilities, conference and NCAA championship administration, and departmental signature events.

  • Serve as an active member of the Division of Student Affairs and the Athletics Department by contributing to divisional and departmental planning, committee work, collaborative initiatives, and a shared commitment to student-athlete success.

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, and departments across the University to support student success and advance departmental, divisional, and institutional priorities.

  • Represent Wentworth Athletics and the University at institutional, conference, alumni, community, and professional events, serving as a positive ambassador for the athletics department and the University.

Compliance & Professional Responsibilities

  • Maintain required certifications, complete mandatory institutional training, and fulfill administrative responsibilities in a timely manner.

  • Ensure compliance with NCAA Division III legislation, Conference of New England policies, University policies, and all applicable federal and state regulations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • Minimum of four years of demonstrated success coaching lacrosse, including progressive leadership responsibilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to recruit and retain academically qualified student-athletes.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Demonstrated strong communication skills and experience building inclusive team environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree.

  • Collegiate coaching experience at the NCAA level.

  • Five years of collegiate coaching experience with previous head coaching or significant assistant coaching leadership responsibilities.

Position Details

The job grade for this position is Grade 7.

The expected salary for this position is between $71,000.00 - $85,000.00 which reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this role.
