Successful candidates will have strong communication and interpersonal skills and be capable of working efficiently both independently and as part of project teams. This individual will report directly to the Project Architect and will interface with the Principal/Partner in Charge of the project.

Responsibilities

  • Independently evaluate, select, and apply architectural solutions for clearly defined assignments under the direction of a Project Architect or above.
  • Investigate, evaluate, and develop cohesive, well-conceived design and planning concepts that meet project goals.
  • Prepare concept materials and precedent imagery for internal and client presentations.
  • Produce design materials, including 2D and 3D representations, for presentations and project review.
  • Document and communicate design intent through diagrams, drawings, renderings, and related media under supervision.
  • Coordinate work with consultants and internal BBB team members across offices.
  • Ensure all project documents meet BBB quality standards, client expectations, and applicable code and zoning requirements (with a focus on NYC and Boston regulations).
  • Manage time effectively to meet deadlines and communicate proactively with project managers, especially when supporting multiple teams or projects.
  • Contribute actively to Revit model development and coordination.
  • Provide design and technical guidance to junior staff.
  • May serve as project architect for small-scale projects and teams, providing technical support to less-experienced staff.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years of professional architectural experience, including at least 2 years in multifamily design.
  • Strong familiarity with multi-family housing typologies in both design and construction; experience with New York City projects is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Revit is required.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and 3D modeling (Rhino), with rendering experience in Enscape and/or V-Ray.
  • Foundational understanding of technical aspects of practice, including zoning, planning, construction documentation, interiors, or preservation.
  • Knowledge of current architectural design methodologies and vocabulary.
  • Ability to synthesize, organize, and clearly present research and design concepts.
  • Strong graphic and organizational skills using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Ability to contribute across all phases of a project, from Schematic Design through Construction Administration.
