Job Summary

Summary
Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.

Essential Functions
-Performs patient care-related duties and clinical functions as assigned, including, but not limited to, performing and documenting point of care, vital signs, EKGs, bathing and other sanitary needs of patients, transferring and assisting with ambulation of patients, 1:1 patient observation for safety purposes, and phlebotomy. Assist RNs and physicians with other exams and treatments as required.

-Completes all documentation such as height, weight, intake of fluids and food, output of urine/stool/vomit/other drainage, and blood glucose results in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).

-Ensures that patient rooms are stocked, equipped, and cleaned appropriately, as needs indicate and as patient volumes change.

-Follows facility admission and discharge procedures and communicates patient admission to the responsible party.

-Interacts effectively with patients, visitors, and other care team members.

-Fosters a positive, collaborative team environment that promotes teamwork and professional growth.

-Communicates with nursing staff effectively and in a timely manner regarding issues related to patient care and condition.

-Provides leadership to the PCA team, including training, mentoring, coordinating department orientation, and performance guidance. Participates in the interview process for new PCAs.

-Assists the Nursing Director or the Resource Nurse with shift schedules and/or payroll as designated.

-Assigns tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensuring proper workload distribution and effective resource utilization.

-Assists in complex unit-based procedures and provides clinical oversight for quality control programs.
