The Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation (OCABR) is a state agency within the Executive Office of Economic Development and is responsible for protecting consumers through advocacy and education. The Office of Consumer Affairs works to ensure that the businesses our agencies regulate treat all Massachusetts consumers fairly. About the Role:

The Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation is seeking a Project-Based Drupal Web Content Specialist (Contracted/Temporary) to support a three - six month digital accessibility initiative. This time-limited project focuses on converting legacy documents into accessible, user-friendly web content within the Drupal CMS and remediating documents to meet WCAG 2.1 and related technical accessibility standards. 

Candidates must be willing to participate in digital accessibility training and develop familiarity with assistive technologies (such as screen readers and keyboard navigation) to ensure content is usable for people with disabilities. 

Working closely with IT and web teams, under the direction of OCABR and EOED IT, you will provide quality improvement of the Office's website using the Drupal content management system, ensuring a user-friendly and accessible digital experience. This position requires on-site presence as needed based on project demands. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Convert PDFs and other documents into accessible HTML webpages or online forms (including Gravity Forms) in Drupal. 
  • Remediate existing documents to meet WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards. 
  • Structure and publish content using Drupal best practices to ensure consistency and usability. 
  • Rewrite and organize content in plain language, aligned with the Mass.gov style guide. 
  • Support content review, approval workflows, and publication processes. 
  • Participate in project meetings and collaborate with cross-functional teams. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Experience using Drupal CMS in a professional setting. 
  • Working knowledge of WCAG 2.1 and digital accessibility standards, including screen reader compatibility. 
  • Experience creating or remediating accessible web content. 
  • Strong plain-language writing and editing skills. 
  • Familiarity with SEO principles and Google Analytics. 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, respond to feedback, and collaborate effectively with stakeholders. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Proven experience with web management and UX design. 
  • Knowledge of standards of digital accessibility (WCAG 2.1) 
  • Demonstrated writing and editing skills.
