The Project Manager for Special Projects is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and tracking citywide efforts to reduce inequities in life expectancy and improve health outcomes across Boston neighborhoods. Reporting to the Director of Policy, the Project Manager drives team-wide coherence through tracking key project outcomes and coordinating daily operations and logistics to ensure strategic goals are met.Â
While the Project Manager will support multiple cross-cutting initiatives, the person in this role will be a key member of our team advancing the Live Long and Well Agenda. The Live Long and Well Agenda (LLW) is a citywide health equity initiative that aims to improve life expectancy and reduce racial and ethnic health disparities in Boston. The ideal candidate is a skilled project leader who excels in collaboration, strategic thinking, and operational execution. They will ensure that LLW strategies move from planning to action. Â
DUTIESÂ
- Support in the development, tracking, and implementation of project workplans, timelines, and performance measures to meet project goals and deliverables. Â
- Work with data teams to track indicators related to life expectancy, social determinants of health, and program impact.Â
- Cultivate and sustain collaborative relationships with internal teams, community-based organizations, healthcare system partners, and governmental agencies to advance cross-sector public health improvement efforts.  Â
- Coordinate planning and execution of stakeholder engagements, meetings, events, and hybrid activities and facilitate inclusive dialogue and participation.  Â
- Produce and disseminate clear, accessible communication materials, including memos, presentations, reports, flyers and other forms of communication to reflect project priorities, activities, and outcomes.  Â
- Work to help BPHC become an antiracist organization by meeting or exceeding the standards set by the BPHC Anti-Racism Policy. Â
- Coordinate and support with drafting, reviewing, and submitting grant proposals.  Â
- Help strengthen the project’s structure and practices to promote racial and health equity and ensure decision-making processes center community voice.  Â
- Perform other related duties as assigned. Â
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, public policy, urban planning, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).Â
- 3–5 years of experience in project management or program coordination roles within public health, government, or mission-driven organizations.  Prior experience working in roles that support multiple team members and engaging with cross-sector partners is preferred. Â
- Candidates in this position must be highly motivated, capable of self-directed work, flexible, and committed to continuous learning and growing in support of team and community goals.  Â
- Highly organized, with the ability to prioritize and follow through with multiple tasks while maintaining outstanding attention to detail.  Â
- Is proactive by anticipating and meeting demands with flexibility and good humor while supporting a dynamic team. Â
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills, including strong interpersonal, written, and active listening skills.  Â
- Strong familiarity with Boston neighborhoods, especially those that have faced barriers to health, and a demonstrated commitment to building partnerships and solutions that help all residents thrive.   Â
- Ability to synthesize, prepare and present information, written and oral, including reports, presentations, and other materials in a clear, coherent, and concise manner. Â
- Possesses computer literacy skills, including demonstrated proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, social media. Familiarity with collaborative project management tools is a plus.  Â
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn about the role of public health in addressing racism, the social determinants of health, and inequities in health outcomes as well as strategies to advance racial justice and health equity. Â
