Under the general direction from the Manager, incumbent performs a variety of patient care duties to produce diagnostic imaging through the operation of radiographic equipment, utilizing proper technique. Explains safety protocols, exams, and procedures to patients. Operates fluoroscopic, portable, portable, and diagnostic and other equipment as required. Works as an independent contributor and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Engages in additional duties as assigned. Assigned to one designated radiography area (Inpatient, Outpatient, or Emergency Room), but may be asked to cover in alternate locations or MGB sites (with appropriate training) should coverage needs arise to ensure a seamless and exemplary patient care experience.
Obtains ARRT Radiography registration and MA licensure then maintains to ensure no lapses. Obtains and maintains site and department competencies and certifications as required
Confirms correct patient and exam to be performed through patient confirmation and interview, patient history, medical record, appropriately modifying and documenting as needed to ensure accurate imaging and records. Explains exam to patient taking into consideration individual physical, emotional and language needs; Ensures patient compliance and understanding
Adjusts equipment to correct settings for all exams to set automated and manual technical factors to safely image patients
Performs required imaging using the appropriate equipment according to department protocol and/or Radiologist request
Ensures exams are labeled correctly prior to transmission to PACS, ensures images successfully arrive in PACS
Adheres to all departmental and hospital policies

Qualifications
Certificate in Radiologic Sciences required, Associate's Degree preferred.
Massachusetts Radiography License required upon hire.
ARRT (R) required with 90 days of hire.
