Responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment, organizing and preparing samples, conducting experiments, and recording and analyzing data.



Candidates who are in the process of completing their bachelor's degree have a grace period of six months from their hire date (up to 1 year if starting per diem) to provide degree equivalency verification.

-Perform laboratory experiments following established protocols and procedures.

-Prepare and handle samples, reagents, and solutions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety guidelines.

-Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, conducting routine calibration and troubleshooting as needed.

-Record experimental data accurately and maintain organized records of procedures, protocols, and results.

-Compile and analyze data using appropriate statistical and analytical methods.

-Assist in data interpretation and presentation, contributing to research findings and reports.

The Laboratory Research Technician serves to assist Principal Investigator in George A. ā€œDocā€ Lopez, MD Lab for Regenerative Cell Therapy at the Department of Neurosurgery, Mass General Hospital. Primary responsibilities are to assist in work inside a cleanroom pertaining to cell manufacturing. This includes assisting the cleanroom Operators in following strict protocols pertaining to cell manufacturing in controlled spaces, accurate recording of procedures and results, performing environmental monitoring, complying with aseptic gowning and manufacturing protocols, maintenance of databases used in the lab, ordering necessary reagents to conduct experiments, and participation in joint upkeep of the lab. This position requires a person who has Bachelor of Science degree in molecular/cell biology or a related field, pays attention to details, can work independently after training, possesses good verbal and written communication skills, and works well as part of a team. Experience with stem cell technology and cell and tissue culture, and/or experience with Good Manufacturing Practice standards is a plus.

Undergoes successful aseptic gowning training and maintains aseptic technique within an ISO 7 and ISO 5 settings. Following training and qualification, promotes and maintains cGMP standards during cell manufacturing, including following manufacturing worksheets, data recording, and documentation maintenance in accordance with Good Documentation Practices.

Following training, assists with and performs independently environmental monitoring in compliance with regulatory guidelines. Collects and records data, follows relevant SOPs, and assists with quality control experiments. On a rotation basis, assists with and performs clean up of controlled spaces in accordance with SOPs.

Maintains a current and accurate inventory of reagents and supplies, places orders for supplies and reagents, and assists with maintaining purchasing records.

Must dependably be available as per set lab schedules, including some weekends and occasional holidays, while retaining flexibility to assist the team as needed. Must pay special attention to detail and work independently as well as in a team under the supervision of the GMP manager. Strong organization skills and the ability to meet deadlines are essential.

May operate and maintain moderate to complex lab equipment such as incubators and tissue culture maintenance equipment, centrifuges, biosafety cabinets, microscopes, and other scientific equipment related to research activity.

May teach moderately difficult to complex lab techniques to students and research personnel.
