JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Engineering Manager, the Electronics Packaging Engineer is responsible for the mechanical, thermal, and materials design of electronic assemblies and components to ensure reliability, manufacturability, and performance across the product lifecycle. This role bridges electrical design, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers to develop robust packaging solutions for electronic systems operating in commercial, industrial, or harsh environments

QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience
- Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of professional experience in engineering and product development
Licenses/Credentials/Certifications
- N/A
Skills/Specialized Knowledge/Abilities
- Mechanical design ownership of electronic device design requiring tight packaging of electrical components and thermal management
- Ability to collaborate with electrical, firmware and optical engineers to optimize board layouts, connector placements, packaging efficiency, etc
- Experience setting up, running and interpreting results of thermal simulations
- Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks 3D CAD
- Proficient in creating SolidWorks 2D specification drawings, including GD&T
- Experience with Solidworks PDM and Agile PLM a plus
- Intermediate knowledge in geometric tolerance analysis
- Proficient in documentation and specification writing
- Experience designing for varied types of fabrication and production, especially injection molding, die casting and machining
- Experience in cameras and optics a plus
- Possesses good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient using hand tools and building/fabricating large prototypes
- Synthesizes and drives towards appropriate solutions
- Able to work independently with minimal direction.
- Able to own system designs and proactively suggest and implement design improvements
- Adequately uses Microsoft Office applications: (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook)

Tools and Equipment Used
- Computer workstation, typical office equipment, Laboratory instrument and measurement equipment
Travel
Able to spend 2 days/week on site at North Reading MA or Westborough MA
Physical & Mental Demands
- Frequently required to sit at a desk/workstation for long period of time
- Digital dexterity and hand/eye coordination in operation of office equipment
- Ability to effectively communicate to employees/clients via phone, computer or in person
- Moderate lifting and carrying of supplies, equipment, files, etc.
- Body motor skills sufficient to enable incumbent to move around the office environment
- Ability to analyze unique situations and develop appropriate response
