Key job responsibilities
Security Reviews & Assessments: Lead end-to-end security reviews for complex, high-priority services including design reviews, threat modeling, and penetration testing scoping and readout
Technical Leadership: Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned affinity teams, providing architectural guidance and security consultation to service teams throughout the development lifecycle. Provide guidance and advise to senior leaders, including providing ideas for team goals, contributing to Operational Planning and newsletters.
Threat Modeling: Independently perform and guide threat modeling exercises for complex distributed systems, identifying risks and recommending mitigations
Manual Code Review: Conduct targeted manual code reviews of security-critical components, identifying vulnerabilities and insecure patterns that automated tools miss
Penetration Testing: Scope, coordinate, and oversee penetration testing engagements; analyze results and drive remediation with service teams
Findings Management: Identify, document, and track security findings to resolution; escalate critical issues to leadership when appropriate
Mentorship & Influence: Mentor junior engineers, contribute to team processes and tooling improvements, and raise the security bar across the organization. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly across organization levels including ttechnical and non technical audience
Design & Build Security Tooling: Design and build security automation, tooling, and processes that improve operational efficiency and scale the team's impact
AI-Powered Security Automation: Leverage generative AI and machine learning to build intelligent security automations that streamline review workflows, enhance vulnerability detection, and reduce manual toil. Ability to write code for security automation.
Builder Engagement: Partner with service teams to improve security posture proactively, including developing self-service guidance, documentation, and readiness frameworks
Metrics & Reporting: Define and track security metrics that measure risk reduction, operational efficiency, and builder experience improvements
A day in the life
As a Senior Security Engineer, you will collaborate with application development teams to ensure we keep our customers safe while developing novel services using GenAI. In a given day, you might be inspecting an application’s code for security issues, building a new framework to help our software developers build faster and more securely, or fine-tuning the design for a new service. The ideal candidate combines technical acumen with an ability to lead by influence and communicate clearly. Technically, this person will be a security specialist with one or more areas of deep expertise within application security. They will clearly articulate risks to technical and non-technical audiences alike. Successful candidates will effectively harmonize disparate opinions while effectively prioritizing risks to guide their partners towards secure solutions.
About the team
The Corporate Services Security (CPSS) Finance and Communication Security (FCS) Team is responsible for securing the applications, infrastructure and data developed across Finance & Global Business Services (FGBS) and Communications and Corporate Responsibility (CCR). We partner with builder teams to minimize security risks across their applications while being a business enabler. Our team is responsible for the following:
1.Security consultations and guidance - Provide security subject matter expert advice on security best practices and implementation strategies.
2.Application security reviews and threat modeling -Comprehensive security assessments for new features and applications using GenAI
3.Security architecture decisions - Design reviews and architectural guidance to build security in from the start of the software development lifecycle
4.Issue remediation - Support for addressing security findings, vulnerabilities, and compliance gaps
5.Security backlog management - Prioritization and tracking of security improvements and technical backlog
6.Compliance and security standards questions - Guidance on meeting organizational security policies and industry standards
7.Security tooling and automation - Help with integrating security tools into your development workflows Basic Qualifications: - 5+ years of non-internship background in troubleshooting systems issues, analyzing logs, or automating complex tasks using command line tools experience
- 5+ years of work in identifying security issues and risks, and developing mitigation plans experience
- 5+ years of (non-internship) scripting, programming, and security code review in common programming languages experience
- Knowledge of at least two of the following programming languages: Scala, Java, Python, C/C++, or Go
- Experience (non-internship) in scripting, programming, and security code reviewing in a common programming language
- Experience (non-internship) in troubleshooting systems issues, analyzing logs, or automating complex tasks using command line tools
- Experience working in identifying security issues and risks, and developing mitigation plans
- Experience (non-internship) in industry-based security vulnerabilities identification, attack patterns, and remediation techniques
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team Preferred Qualifications: - Experience applying threat modeling or other risk identification techniques or equivalent
- Experience with security in service-oriented architectures/microservices and web services

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
