The Senior Software Applications Developer, reporting to the Director of Integration and Process Innovation within the Enterprise Data and Solutions, is a key role for developing transformative solutions in data integration, cutting-edge AI applications and digital forms. The Developer will collaborate with business departments to provide essential services, including application support, integration, digital form development and workflow automation specifically supporting Workday Finance, HR and Student Information Systems and various business units. Serving as an application and data subject matter expert, this role manages the full solution lifecycle - from technical assessment and requirement gathering through development, testing and deployment - to ensure results that create efficiency and meet critical business objectives. Success in this position requires expert technical skills, strong analytical abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to excellent customer service. The Senior Software Applications Developer will be a hands-on leader in the development, integration, and support of the college's core enterprise systems, with a strong focus on leveraging emerging and AI technologies.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Emerging Technology & AI Development

  • Develop and launch AI Solutions: Rapidly develop and deploy cutting-edge AI applications, LLM, and Agentic AI solutions that drive value, create efficiency and enhance user experience. This includes developing applications and chatbots integrated with core platforms (Workday, Google, AD, security, Snowflake, NotebookLM, etc.) and open-source AI platforms.
  • Innovation and Automation: Adopt emerging technologies (e.g., API, AI/ML) to deliver innovative solutions and optimize business operations through automation to expand strategic opportunities across campus.
  • Rapid Development: Drive rapid, AI-assisted development (e.g. vibe coding) and system design to solve key business problems, ensuring all solutions meet enterprise security and code review standards while promoting fast, iterative prototyping.
     

Enterprise System Integration & Support

  • Lead integration services across major campus systems including Workday (Student, Finance, HCM), Salesforce, Ellucian Banner, and Snowflake data lake integration pipelines. Develop core integrations (including API web services, Workday Studio, SaaS and end point connectors) to ensure reliable, high-volume data exchange.
  • Manage SnapLogic and Alteryx pipelines to integrate and parse structured and semi-structured data sources into the Snowflake centralized data repository. Verify data integrity, and promote data standards through cross-system data mapping and transformation.
  • Maintain all core enterprise development and integration platforms and applications (e.g., Workday, Banner, Snaplogic, Salesforce, BPLogix, Heroku, Oracle, GIT, and Tomcat Oracle Linux).
  • Develop and implement digital forms and automated workflows using software such as BP Logic, AI, or Salesforce to streamline processes for business functions.
  • Participate in the Workday Student project which includes developing integrations, supporting existing HR and Finance integrations, and participating in semi-annual Workday release tests and adoption.
     

Solution Lifecycle Management & Collaboration

  • Independently lead the full lifecycle of feature releases, collaborating with functional users to analyze new or modified functions, execute testing, deploy solutions, and monitor performance of enterprise-managed systems.
  • Monitor all production support tickets and daily team activities, guaranteeing fast resolution of application, user account, and data issues to minimize business interruption.
  • Collaborate with PMO, project team, and external stakeholders to effectively execute UAT test plans by establishing clear test objectives, test scenarios, and follow-up procedures.
  • Provide on-demand data analysis and reporting to answer critical data questions or diagnose major data integrity or process performance issues. Adhere to data governance standards and IT Change Management practices.
  • Maintain proper documentation of technical specifications and process workflows in Google Drive and follow best practices for version control in the central team GIT repository.
  • Be responsible for setting annual personal performance goals and monitoring processes through frequent reviews with supervisor to ensure goals are achieved.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet evolving departmental and institutional needs.
     

QUALIFICATIONS – Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform the job.

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related technical/business field or equivalent relevant work experience required.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in application development, data integration and system support required.
  • One (1) year of hands-on experience developing AI customer applications with vibe coding. Includes the use of RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) and Agentic AI required.
  • Eight (8) years or more of experience with SOAP solution interface, XML and JavaScript Object Notation (JSON), RESTful APIs, HTTP, and open standard protocols such as HTML5, XML based protocols, API service-oriented architecture design principles required.
  • Five (5) years of hands-on experience with Workday integration and report development required.
  • Eight (8) year integration experience with 3rd party, cloud-based or legacy file transfer mechanisms required.
  • Experience working with a major Student Information System (e.g., Workday, Banner or Salesforce) required.
  • Ten (10) or more years of Enterprise Systems development and support in a Higher educational setting preferred.
  • Specific integration expertise in Workday Studio (HCM, Finance, Student, or Banner) preferred.
  • Salesforce platform and development experience preferred.
  • Data analytics and Machine Learning experience preferred.
  • Snowflake working experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES – May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with the job. 

  • Proficient with data query and data extraction leveraging SQL, views, endpoint APIs, and Web Service technology.
  • Snaplogic or Alteryx pipeline, Heroku with Salesforce data integration or other data extract, transform and Load (ETL) tools.
  • Strong development skills in API Web Services, endpoint connector, along with experience in Tomcat web server configuration and deployment.
  • Understanding of database design and Snowflake data domain.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, meticulous attention to detail and a focus on achieving results.
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn new and innovative technology, and the drive to turn theoretical concepts into tangible solutions in a quick manner.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple, diverse initiatives and tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, while consistently delivering optimal service
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with colleagues across a variety of disciplines and business functions to provide technical guidance and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to identify and engage appropriate individuals across teams, including functional users and leadership, for effective collaboration on issue resolution and new initiatives.
  • Strong customer-service orientation, including the ability to support requests and solve tickets in a timely manner to address the needs of constituents and build strong working relationships.
  • Familiarity navigating a College Student Information System (SIS) and its underlying data structure coupled with broad technical knowledge of data integrations/interfaces with various third-party vendors.

The hybrid arrangement will be made upon hire. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the Boston campus to ensure operational effectiveness. This arrangement must be approved as outlined in the Remote Work Policy.​

Compensation: $104,000.00 - $130,000.00 annually, commensurate with experience.

This position will be exclusively represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 888 for purposes of wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
