The School of Arts and Sciences seeks adjunct faculty to teach introductory math courses to health science majors (premed, pharmacy, nursing, etc.) for the upcoming academic year (Fall 2026 - Spring 2027). Possible courses include Algebra and Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus I, and Statistics. All are taught as face-to-face, in-person courses, primarily on Monday/Wednesday morning and afternoons, with a small number on Tuesday/Thursday mornings. Successful candidates will have at least one year of experience teaching math, preferably at the college level.

  • Delivers engaging instruction in face-to-face, in-person classes
  • Provides assignments that demonstrate real-world applications of concepts covered
  • Provides students with an approved syllabus that includes course objectives and learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies in line with those of the School, texts, assignments and deliverables, timelines and evaluation criteria
  • Uses the University’s learning management system to post syllabus, assignments and other materials and to communicate with students
  • Advises and assists students through in-person office hours or scheduled appointments, by videoconference, phone, or email, and through other University-approved mechanisms
Qualifications

Required:

  • Advanced degree (masters or above) in mathematics or allied discipline
  • Minimum of one (1) year of teaching math courses at the college/university level
  • Commitment to undergraduate student success
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Must be able to work independently and effectively interact with a wide array of parties at all levels (students, faculty, and administration/staff)
