Job Summary Statement: Casa Esperanza, Inc. is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to support our Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in delivering high-quality mental health care. The ideal candidate will have experience in behavioral health or medical settings, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to serving diverse communities.


Sign-on bonus: $5,000聽(Paid 50% at hire and 50% at 6 months from start.)


What you'll do


Essential Functions:

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Assist the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in day-to-day clinical operations, including preparing patients for consultations and documenting medical histories.

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Schedule, confirm, and manage appointments to ensure efficient clinic workflows.

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Perform basic clinical tasks such as measuring and recording vital signs, updating electronic health records (EHR), and ensuring accurate patient documentation.

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Facilitate communication between patients and the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, answering questions and providing instructions for follow-up care.

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ensure that examination rooms are stocked, sanitized, and ready for patient use.

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Coordinate with other team members to manage prescription refills, medication tracking, and lab result follow-ups.

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Assist with administrative tasks, including data entry, maintaining patient files, and generating reports as needed.

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Maintain compliance with Casa Esperanza, Inc.鈥檚 policies, local regulations, and HIPAA requirements to protect patient privacy.

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Support culturally sensitive care by communicating with patients in their preferred language and accommodating cultural needs (bilingual in Spanish is strongly preferred).


Qualifications

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent required

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 At least 1-2 years of experience in a clinical or mental health setting.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Bilingual Spanish/English required

路聽聽聽聽聽聽Phlebotomy Certified is preferable

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Current and valid Massachusetts driver鈥檚 license and a proven record of safe driving

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Experience with homelessness, mental illness, domestic violence

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Experience with ZOOM or other virtual platform

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Knowledge of community/recovery resources

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ability to work both as a team member and independently

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Understanding of relapse prevention and harm reduction techniques

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Strong interpersonal skills

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Strong communication and technical skills

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Crisis management skills

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Must be able to effectively use computer programs, including web-based database systems

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Valid Massachusetts Driver鈥檚 License

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ability to meet the physical and training requirements of the position.


Schedule:

Full-time, 40 hours per week

Monday to Friday

Physical & Mental Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
