Description

The New England College of Optometry (NECO) invites applications for a per diem, temporary, non-benefits position as an attending optometrist and clinical preceptor at Charles River Community Health, a community health center in Brighton, MA. This role is available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, with effort up to 0.5 FTE, based on clinic and programmatic needs.


We are seeking a clinically skilled optometrist with an interest in community-based care and optometric education. Responsibilities include providing direct patient care at Charles River Community Health and potentially participating in the teaching and precepting of optometry students. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to educating future optometrists in the principles of high-quality optometric and interdisciplinary care.


NECO’s mission is to improve the vision and eye health of populations through excellence in collaborative and community-oriented patient care, service, education, and research. NECO optometrists are clinician-educators who work within a multidisciplinary, non-profit eye care network serving the diverse vision and eye health needs of the greater Boston community. Per diem attending optometrists hold temporary faculty appointments that support both the clinical service and teaching missions of the College.

Requirements

Required qualifications include:

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree
  • Massachusetts licensure with TPA+ certification, including glaucoma and anti-infective privileges
  • Advanced professional credentials, such as residency training or equivalent clinical experience
  • Appropriate credentials for a temporary clinical faculty appointment
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in patient care and clinical teaching

Experience working with a diverse patient population and proficiency in languages other than English are preferred, but not required.
