In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.

  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).

  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.

  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.

  • Federal Work Study student may apply.

  • In good disciplinary standing.

  • Must be located in the U.S.

The Professional Writing Division is launching a new exciting recording program, and is seeking qualified students to help us manage its day to day operations. The Professional Writing Labs will be a new series of ensembles, composed of highly qualified Session Musicians who are coming together to provide professional level recordings for students taking writing classes.

As one of our office coordinators, you will be in charge of managing the new PWL office space, and play an important part in the collection and processing of student compositions for recordings.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

  • Managing the PWL office space, and staffing the desk in 155 Mass. Ave. 
  • Responsible for the collection and review of student projects based on a provided checklist, PWL guidelines, and policies.
  • This will include reviewing score and parts for proper sizing, transpositions, writing, and any other requirements set by JCMP/CWP departments
  • Communicate details about the recording session process, arrival time, location, and file delivery process to the student writers.
  • Prepare parts for the Labs, including taping, sorting, and filling.
  • Communicate with PWL staff members about submission data, and any issues
  • Complete a required training held by the Jazz Composition and Contemporary Writing and Production departments. 

What You Bring (Qualifications):

  • Must have completed Arranging 2 with a grade of A or B. 
  • Provide your final project’s score & parts from that course for review.
  • Must have experience with printing and taping scores and parts.
  • Must be comfortable with standard engraving conventions, including format, transpositions, multi-measure rests, etc.
