Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Inpatient Occupational Therapist to provide exceptional care to patients throughout the hospital. In this acute care setting, our Occupational Therapists evaluate and treat patients with a wide range of orthopedic and medical conditions. They help patients of all ages participate in the activities and occupations that are important to them and work closely and collaboratively with other disciplines to meet patients' varied needs.
Qualifications
Essential Functions:
- Conduct assessments of patients' physical, mental, and developmental abilities.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessments.
- Implement and monitor treatment plans, adjusting as needed.
- Demonstrate communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to manage a diverse patient population of varying diagnoses, ranging in age from adolescent to geriatric.
- Provide education to patients and their families about therapeutic activities and exercises they can do at home.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, nurses, and physical therapists, to provide comprehensive care.
- Assist in triaging, prioritizing, monitoring admissions, referrals, and discharges to and from the service as assigned.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and progress notes.
- Attend staff meetings, continuing education programs, and professional development activities to stay current with new techniques and best practices.
- Supervise aides and other support personnel as appropriate.
- Assist in the supervision of students and other individuals seeking educational experiences related to occupational therapy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy required.
- Masters Entry Level, or Advanced Masters in Occupational Therapy encouraged
- Current OT License in the State of Massachusetts required and maintained
- Current CPR certification required and maintained
- AOTA/ASHT membership preferred
- AOTA National Board Licensing
- Acute Hospital experience is preferred
