Website www.flatirons.bank Contact careers@flatirons.bank ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Consumer Loan Operations Manager is a hands-on leadership position responsible for the day-to-day administration, regulatory execution and continued development of the Bank’s consumer lending operations. The role supports the Bank’s portfolio, secondary market and home equity and construction lending functions. This position will lead and develop the consumer lending administration team, strengthen succession and backup coverage, oversee quality control and consumer lending compliance, and help build scalable processes for continued growth. This role will also support commercial lending compliance requirements including Flood, Regulation B and Adverse Action, and will work closely with the head of Loan Administration and Chief Credit Officer. This role will serve as the principal operational subject-matter resource for lending compliance and provide substantial support to the Bank’s broader Compliance Management System. Consumer Lending Operations Leadership Lead the day-to-day administration of the Bank’s bridge, portfolio mortgage, secondary-market mortgage, HELOC and consumer construction lending activities. Coordinate workflow across loan officers, processors, documentation staff, title companies, appraisers, insurance providers, settlement agents and other internal and external partners. Monitor production volume, service levels, staffing capacity and operational risk; recommend staffing, workflow and technology changes before capacity constraints affect clients or controls. Serve as the primary escalation resource for complex processing, documentation, title, insurance, disclosure, closing, funding and post-closing matters. Provide direct production support and backup coverage during peak periods, vacations, absences and staffing transitions. Partner with the head of Loan Administration and Chief Credit Officer on strategy, staffing, product implementation and continuous improvement. Team Leadership, Performance and Succession Planning Directly supervise, coach and develop consumer lending administration staff, including establishing clear performance expectations and providing timely feedback. Create and maintain cross-training plans, documented procedures and reliable backup coverage across processing, documentation, closing, funding and post-closing functions. Identify skill gaps and provide or coordinate training that strengthens technical expertise, regulatory understanding, service quality and professional growth. Promote accountability, teamwork, thoughtful problem-solving and a client-focused approach to administering consumer loans. Lead succession planning for key positions, including the orderly transfer of institutional knowledge. Lending Compliance and Regulatory Implementation Serve as the Bank’s primary operational subject-matter resource for consumer lending laws and regulations applicable to the Bank’s products, including TRID, TILA/Regulation Z, RESPA/Regulation X, ECOA/Regulation B, HMDA, Flood, Fair Housing, FCRA, SCRA, HOEPA, E-Sign, SAFE Act and related state requirements. Support lending compliance requirements applicable to lending, including Flood, Regulation B, adverse action and other requirements designated by the Chief Credit Officer or Compliance Officer. Monitor regulatory developments affecting lending and coordinate timely implementation through policies, procedures, forms, system settings, checklists, training and operational controls. Provide practical regulatory guidance to lenders, loan administrators and management on non-routine transactions and compliance questions. Maintain consumer and lending compliance policies, procedures and job aids in coordination with the Compliance Officer and Chief Credit Officer. Support implementation and compliance administration for secondary-market and other mortgage programs used by the Bank. Partner with the Bank’s Legal Counsel and the Marketing team to review consumer lending marketing materials and help ensure disclosures and promotional content comply with applicable laws, regulations, and Bank policies. Quality Control and Monitoring Oversee pre-closing and post-closing quality-control processes for consumer loans, including Loan Estimate and Closing Disclosure review, timing, tolerances, changed circumstances, redisclosures, pricing and program requirements. Coordinate or perform targeted file reviews, exception tracking and monitoring to identify errors, trends and control weaknesses. Develop and oversee corrective-action plans, follow-up testing and staff training in response to identified exceptions, audit findings, complaints or regulatory changes. Oversee HMDA data quality, completeness and timely reporting support; coordinate periodic validation and correction of reportable data. Support SAFE Act and NMLS administration, mortgage loan originator registration and mortgage compensation compliance as assigned. Ensure lending compliance monitoring is appropriately documented and provide data, analysis and reporting to the Compliance Officer, Compliance Committee, management and the Board as requested. Construction Loan and Draw Administration Develop and implement the long-term operating model for construction loan and draw administration within Loan Administration. Establish consistent controls and procedures for budgets, borrower equity, inspections, lien searches, lien waivers, change orders, cost overruns, disbursements and exception escalation. Coordinate responsibilities among Loan Administration, Credit, Relationship Managers, borrowers, contractors and third-party inspection providers. Train and oversee employees assigned to perform construction draw administration and provide hands-on support for complex or higher-risk draws. Monitor the construction portfolio and recommend staffing or process changes as volume and complexity grow. Systems Administration and Reporting Serve as a primary or backup system administrator for lending-related platforms, including LaserPro, iCore and AccuSystems, with particular responsibility for consumer lending products, forms and settings. Monitor relevant software release notes, regulatory updates and product changes; coordinate testing and implementation with appropriate internal and external resources. Maintain standardized document packages, product configurations, user access and system controls consistent with approved products and policies. Oversee or support lending exception reports, HMDA reporting, compliance reporting and other management information generated from lending systems. Develop resilient system administration coverage so critical knowledge and access are not concentrated with a single employee. QualificationsEDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS These specifications are general guidelines based on the experience normally considered essential to satisfactory performance. Individual experience and demonstrated abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines. Minimum of 7 years of experience in mortgage operations, consumer loan administration, lending compliance or a closely related banking function; a combination of relevant experience and education may be considered. Demonstrated experience leading or supervising mortgage or consumer lending operations personnel. Advanced working knowledge of residential mortgage, HELOC and consumer construction loan processes, including disclosures, documentation, closing, funding and post-closing administration. Strong knowledge of applicable federal and state lending laws and regulations, including TRID, TILA/Regulation Z, RESPA, ECOA/Regulation B, HMDA, Flood, Fair Housing, SAFE Act and related requirements. Experience performing or overseeing Loan Estimate and Closing Disclosure quality control, HMDA data review, lending compliance monitoring and corrective action. Experience with construction lending and draw administration preferred. Experience with Finastra LaserPro, DCI iCore, AccuSystems/AccuAccount or similar systems strongly preferred; system administration experience is desirable. Ability to balance leadership responsibilities with hands-on production and problem-solving. Excellent judgment, attention to detail, organization, communication and time-management skills. Ability to interpret regulations, loan documents, procedures and non-standard transactions and translate them into practical operating guidance. Ability to work independently, collaborate across departments and communicate effectively with employees, clients, auditors, regulators and vendors. Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and related business applications.
