Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer - Level 3 to join our team at our facility in Boulder, Colorado.
Responsibilities
- Primary role is to serve as a mechanical designer/developer for mechanical systems (mechanisms) design on a major Northrop Grumman Defense Systems program
- Research, plan, design, and develop mechanical/aerospace products for aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicles, missiles, ground vehicles and associated ground and test equipment
- Develop CAD models and 3D model based drawings using SolidWorks, Siemens NX and Team Center
- Verify specifications and designs through modeling and simulation, test data processing, and performance analysis
- Support all phases of the systems lifecycle including design, drawings, fabrication, test, installation, operation and maintenance
- Design of components/systems, and preliminary/sizing analysis for both stress and dynamic analysis of aerospace structures.
- Preparation and presentation of reports, briefings, design documents (drawings and specifications) and interface with customers.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years of relevant experience – OR – Master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience – OR – PhD with 1 year of relevant experience
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance.
- Familiar with common engineering standards (ISO, ASME, Mil Spec, NAS, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience in electronics design, with a focus on the thermal analysis and optimization of electronics systems.
- Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision, function in a dynamic environment, and be flexible to changing direction
- Experience with design/fabrication techniques for structural details, assemblies, and/or installations.
- Experience using product lifecycle management (PLM) or Product Data management (PDM) tools.
- Experience with 3-D modeling and printing
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience advancing the state of the art for next generation electronics thermal design
- Prior experience leading the thermal design of systems, CCAs, and microelectronics level thermal designs
- Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision, function in a dynamic environment, and be flexible to changing direction
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills when conveying technical content
