With a strong legacy of success and brand recognition, Coastal is poised for continued growth. As part of this exciting next chapter, we are seeking a dedicated and strategic Engineered Wood Products (EWP) Outside Sales Specialist to join our sales team supporting the Long Island, NY territory. 


Job Overview 

The EWP-Outside Sales Specialist is responsible for proactively developing strategic business opportunities and building strong relationships with targeted builders and contractors. This role focuses on expanding our customer base while strengthening partnerships that support both current and future growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, and close strategic business opportunities within targeted existing accounts while strengthening relationships and expanding long-term partnerships.
  • Assist with the creation of program sales with stocking dealers.
  • Effectively communicate Coastal’s value-added proposition to targeted builders and contractors.
  • Stay informed on market trends and competitors to identify opportunities for program conversions.
  • Collaborate closely with the Full-Line Outside Sales team to identify and qualify potential business opportunities, and partner with CAD Plan Designers to ensure a seamless customer experience.
  • Maintain industry knowledge and technical expertise through training, workshops, and ongoing learning.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing concerns promptly, investigating issues, and coordinating effective solutions.
  • Communicate pricing updates clearly and manage the claim’s process within the assigned territory.
  • Manage time and priorities effectively to ensure project information and deliverables align with project timelines. 


Qualifications & Experience

  • 3 -5 years of sales experience within the lumber, construction, or related building materials industry. 
  • Ability to read and interpret building plans; familiarity with CAD software or building design concepts strongly preferred.
  • A proven record of meeting and exceeding sales targets
  • A goal-driven and self-motivated mindset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, with strong negotiation skills
  • Collaborative, relationship-focused team player
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Legally permitted to work in the United States


Location & Travel Requirements

  • Must live in commutable distance to Long Island, NY, relocation assistance is not available for this role. 
  • Travel expectation: 3–5 days per week of local and regional travel throughout Long Island, NY area.
  • Occasional meetings and trainings at our headquarters in Bow, New Hampshire. 


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain seated for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift or move objects up to 50lbs.
