Shift Supervisor Night Shift - Bowie, TX

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading a manufacturing production team to work injury-free/incident-free in a manufacturing environment.
  • The production Supervisor will be responsible for setting up the production line to complete specific orders, overseeing Line workers, and ensuring that orders are completed on time and within budget.
  • To ensure success as a Shift Supervisor, you should exhibit extensive knowledge of production processes and experience in a similar industry. A top-notch Shift Supervisor will be someone whose production line expertise results in production targets being met without compromising on quality. 
  • The Shift Supervisor is driven to continually improve performance and embrace changes that will help both their team meet production standards. 
  • Driving safety excellence through promoting employee involvement, ownership, and accountability to proactively eliminate hazards.
  • The Shift Supervisor reports to the Production Manager at the manufacturing facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

  • Train and coach production line employees.
  • Oversee production compliance with the WL Plastics Quality Program as defined in the Quality Program Manual (QPM) and ISO 9001 Procedural requirements. Accountable for the day-to-day supervision of pipe production and operations to include;
    • Ensuring full compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.
    • Ensuring safe and efficient start-up of production lines.
    • Verifying measurements on products and product samples.
    • Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions. 
    • Oversee all process documentation and training program procedures (EQLs, Toolbox Talks, etc.) for consistency of operational tasks and safety and cleanliness of the facility.
    • Tracks productivity for measured efficiency and improvement for production utilizing lean manufacturing procedures.
    • Assist with troubleshooting and solving production issues.
    • Assuring all resources and assets are utilized safely and efficiently.
    • Maintaining and communicating information on plant operations to other Shift Supervisors, Quality Assurance, and Production Manager.
  • Providing leadership and direction for the team in a way that motivates them to meet all safety, productivity, and quality goals in the facility.
  • Performing other duties assigned by the Production Manager.
  • 12-hour shifts to include weekend work will be required.
  • Accountable for understanding and putting into practice the SHE Principles.  Additionally, the Production Supervisor has a responsibility to cascade the understanding of the principles through the location and their team.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Preferred candidates will have at least two years of post-secondary education. High School Diploma or equivalent with one year of supervisory experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of product specifications and production standards.
  • Must be able to oversee and work safely in a production environment; must be physically capable of performing job-related tasks and job duties.
  • Proficient with reading, writing, and basic math skills such as calculating percentages and volumes to the job, function, or assignment.
  • Ability to perform actions within basic computer skills.
  • Must be a U.S. or non-U.S. citizen with legal status to reside and work in the U.S. for reasons other than practical training.
  • Ability to use and interpret precision instruments, tools, machinery, and equipment.
  • Proven leadership, initiative, adaptability, and communication skills are necessary for success in this position.
  • Must be able to work safely in a production environment; must be physically capable of performing job-related tasks and job duties.
  • Good organizational skills - must have the ability to determine priorities, manage time properly, and multitask. Adherence to Quality Policy and ISO 9001 Procedural requirements.
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance and Shipping personnel.
  • Regular, predictable, and full attendance is an essential function of the job. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Walk, sit, climb, stoop, bend, kneel, balance, crouch or crawl, talk or hear.
  • Use hand to fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools and controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs or ladders.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, the ability to adjust focus, and the ability to distinguish color.
  • Employees must be able to lift objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb stairs and/or ladders.
  • Ability to stand and walk 8-10 hours per day.
  • Ability to wear PPE, including, but not limited to, hard hat, safety glasses and steel toe footwear that meets ASTM F-2413-2005 standards while in required locations.  
  • The employee will be required to: read, communicate verbally and in written form, remember and analyze certain information, and remember and understand certain instructions or guidelines.  
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, and sit
  • Employees are frequently required to use hands to touch, handle, and feel and to reach with hands and arms.  
  • Requires working in weather conditions (above 90F degrees/below 32F degrees).
  • Capable of lifting heavy objects up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to above TWA limit
  • Wear appropriate personnel protective equipment and work in inclement weather

TRAINING:

  • The company provides training in safety, equipment operation, and quality requirements

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Travel is not usually required. Travel to other cities or manufacturing facilities may be necessary for training or benchmarking purposes.
