Medication Technician




Overview of Position

The Medication Technician is essential to maintaining the health, safety, and quality of service to our participants. This role is responsible for the overall management of participant medical records, including Medication Administration Records (MARs), prescriptions, HRST updates, and medical follow-up appointments. You will serve as a key administrative support pillar, ensuring that all medical documentation meets agency and waiver requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Documentation & Accuracy: Review or transcribe MAR templates and prescriptions prior to monthly implementation.

  • Compliance Monitoring: Conduct monthly reviews of completed MARs, prescriptions (including standing orders), controlled substance logs, and medical consults.

  • Records Management: Upload MARs, prescriptions, and medical logs into Oasis participant records.

  • Healthcare Coordination: Ensure all medical appointment follow-ups are completed and track compliance across all logs and prescriptions.

  • Health Risk Screening Tool: Update the Health Risk Screening Tool (HRST) as needed; ensure annual updates are completed per waiver requirements and uploaded into MWMA and Oasis.

  • Agency Support: Assist with file audits and maintain a clean, professional office environment.

  • Mission-Driven Care: Represent the agency’s core values and "Doing the right thing for the right reason" philosophy to the community and contract providers.

  • Professional Growth: Maintain a positive attitude, complete all required training within established timeframes, and stay current on all recertifications.




Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.

  • Age: 18+ (21+ preferred).

  • Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to adequately communicate with staff and recipients.

  • Technical Skills: Ability to read, understand, and implement complex instructions and perform detailed documentation.

  • Physical/Emotional Demands: Ability to meet the demands of a high-paced office setting.

  • Vibe: A positive attitude, a willingness to accept constructive criticism, and a drive for self-improvement.

  • Reliability: Valid Social Security number (or work permit), and the ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
