General Summary The Assistant Corporate Controller reports to the VP Corporate Controller and supports all aspects of accounting operations, month-end close, financial reporting, internal controls, and process improvements. This role combines hands-on transactional work with supervisory responsibilities and requires strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate financial results to stakeholders. Principal Duties and Responsibilities - Month-end close: lead or support monthly close activities, prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations and balance sheet analyses
- Financial reporting: prepare GAAP/management financial statements, variance analysis and month-over-month/YOY metrics
- General ledger: maintain GL integrity, reconcile key balance sheet accounts, review subsidiary ledgers
- Accounts payable / receivable: oversee AR / AP workflows, ensure timely invoicing/collections and vendor payments
- Cash management: assist with cash forecasting, bank reconciliations, and working capital analysis
- Budgeting & forecasting: support annual budget process and periodic forecasts; analyze actuals vs budgets
- Internal controls: implement, document, and monitor internal controls, support any testing as applicable
- Audit & tax support: coordinate external audit, tax filings, and provide schedules and explanations where applicable
- Process improvements & systems: identify opportunities to streamline workflows and assist with ERP/accounting system upgrades or configurations
- Team Leadership: supervise and mentor accounting staff, review work, assign tasks, and support professional development
- Ad hoc analysis: prepare special financial analyses, cost studies, and support cross-functional projects
Required Qualification Minimum ten years of senior accounting and finance experience. Requires daily dedication to details, without losing focus on mission objectives to grow the business, that will later require assumption of more management and oversight functions as additions are made to staffing levels. Specific requirements include: - Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and/or MBA in Accounting and/or equivalent experience required; CPA preferred with at least ten (10) years of related experience and a proven track record in accounting and financial management for multi-subsidiary, multi-industry and retail organizations

- Solid experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll and accounting for loan portfolio investments
- Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers
- Analytic and decisive decision maker with the ability to prioritize and communicate to staff key objectives and tactics necessary to achieve organizational goals
- Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent public speaking skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to the board, senior management, or other outside partners
