Boom Truck CDL Driver

About the Role:

The Operator: Boom Truck plays a critical role in the construction industry by safely and efficiently operating boom trucks to lift, move, and position heavy materials and equipment on job sites. This position requires precision and attention to detail to ensure that loads are handled securely and that all operations comply with safety regulations and company policies. The operator collaborates closely with site supervisors, riggers, and other construction personnel to coordinate lifting tasks and maintain smooth workflow. Additionally, the role involves conducting routine inspections and maintenance of the boom truck to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime. Ultimately, the operator contributes to the successful completion of construction projects by enabling the safe and timely movement of materials essential to the build process.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for operating boom trucks.
  • Proven experience operating boom trucks or similar heavy equipment in a construction environment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and safe rigging and lifting practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret load charts, blueprints, and site plans.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor and work in various weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification from a recognized crane operator training program.
  • Experience with computerized load monitoring systems and boom truck telematics.
  • Familiarity with multiple types of boom trucks and cranes.
  • Basic mechanical skills for troubleshooting and performing minor equipment repairs.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and supervisors.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate boom trucks to lift, transport, and place materials and equipment at construction sites according to project specifications.
  • Conduct pre-operation inspections of the boom truck to identify and report any mechanical issues or safety hazards.
  • Coordinate with site supervisors and rigging teams to plan lifts and ensure safe load handling procedures are followed.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily operations, including load weights, distances moved, and any incidents or maintenance performed.
  • Adhere strictly to OSHA and company safety standards to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on the boom truck to keep equipment in good working condition.
  • Assist with site cleanup and organization as needed to support overall project efficiency.
