Job Description

  

Summary:

Teledyne FLIR in Bozeman manufactures synthetic single‑crystal laser materials and produces crystalline optics for the laser‑optics industry. The Crystal Growth department is seeking an Electrical Engineer / Electro-Mechanical Engineer to support specialized Czochralski crystal growth systems and related infrastructure. This high‑temperature crystal growth process integrates a wide range of electrical and mechanical precision devices and processes. This role is responsible for ensuring systems operate correctly through troubleshooting and maintenance, and will also contribute to the design of next‑generation crystal growth equipment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the reliability of crystal growth production systems, equipment, machinery, and infrastructure, including high voltage RF generators, load cell sensors, LabVIEW-based control software, rotation and translation motors, PLC control systems, and associated power and cooling systems.

  • Responsible for preventive maintenance and repairs to prevent production delays.

  • Oversee installation of new equipment and systems to ensure compliance with electrical and building codes.

  • Provide hands‑on crystal growth production support as needed, including participation in a monthly weekend shift rotation to monitor crystal growth processes.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field required.

  • Experience with high powered RF generators.

  • Experience with PLC-based control systems.

  • Proven electrical and mechanical aptitude.

  • Strong analytical and experimentation skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical problems.

  • LabVIEW programming experience a plus.

  • SolidWorks drafting experience a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to learn on the job.

  • Strong team player with a hands‑on, results‑driven approach.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand or walk for extended periods.

  • Willingness to work a weekend shift rotation every 4-5 weeks.
