Job Summary:  The mission of a wet sander is to level the final coats of lacquer on a guitar in doing so remove any small blemishes and imperfections, as well as create an ideal surface that can be polished. The employee accomplishes this by sanding with progressively higher grits of sandpaper, starting with 800 grit and ending with 1000. Wet sand is a vital step in producing a product that can be buffed to a high finish and helps create the uniquely beautiful guitars that Gibson is known for.  

 

Essential Functions:

  • Learn and execute standard operating procedures.
  • 95% pass rate based on production requirements.
  • Understands and meets quality standards. 
  • Maintains product flow at appropriate rate.
  • Adheres to department protocols (5S and Safety)

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong attention to detail. 
  • Develop a strong knowledge of the different models.
  • Outstanding time management skillset with the ability to prioritize without direct supervision. 
  • Teamwork and project management skills combined with ability to work as part of a team.  

 

Education and Experience:

  • Results oriented and driven, with a track record for delivering to plan.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to stand entire shift and lift guitars throughout the day.
