About This Role

 

Kidde Global Solutions Residential Fire Safety (Kidde) - Engineering Team, is seeking a technical project manager (TPM) to lead projects and cross-functional teams through the development process. As a technical leader on new product development, the applicant will be expected to take ownership of the product development, working closely with the various functions to achieve the business objectives. This will include setting up technical team meetings, tracking key deliverables, mitigating risks / issues, and steering the team through technical decisions. The applicant will interface with the project manager, product manager, and senior leadership regarding the project status.  

You will be given the opportunity to grow and develop your engineering and leadership skills as you will play a pivotal role in taking new products to the market, transitioning from definition/requirements, conceptualization, execution, and verification and validation of the product. 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Own detailed engineering project plans, task breakdowns, and schedules across hardware, firmware, software, mechanical, and test disciplines. 
  • Translate program level milestones into actionable engineering work plans with clear ownership and dependencies. 
  • Track progress against engineering deliverables and drive timely completion of tasks and design activities. 
  • Identify execution risks, technical issues, and resource constraints, and lead to mitigation and resolution efforts. 
  • Act as the primary coordination point for engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle. 
  • Facilitate technical discussions, design reviews, and working sessions to resolve cross discipline issues. 
  • Hold regular cross-functional engineering team meetings to cover technical topics. 
  • Track / manage tasks through Jira. 
  • Participate in risk management and failure mode analysis efforts. 
  • Participate in test planning and evaluation of the design’s test readiness. 
  • Communicate across locations worldwide to provide consistent communication and coordinated project deliverables across sites 
  • Partner with the PMO to align engineering execution with program level schedules, budgets, and commitments. 
  • Provide accurate and timely engineering status, risk updates, and forecast information to support program reporting. 
  • Support program reviews, phase-gate readiness, and executive updates with detailed technical insight. 
  • Ensure consistency between engineering plans and overall program objectives managed by the PMO.

 

Basic Qualifications  

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years of experience leading NPD projects through the development of electronic systems and coordinating across engineering disciplines.

 

Preferred Qualifications 

 

  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining schedules, preferably with the use of Microsoft Project 
  • Familiarity using FMEA’s, Risk management tools, and driving root cause analysis of defects/issues 
  • Willing to travel within the US to interface with test labs and other design/test centers (ability/desire to travel internationally is desired but not required) 
  • Experience using Microsoft Project 
  • Experience using Jira for defect tracking 
  • Experience designing life-safety devices 
  • Familiarity designing for regulatory agencies and requirements (UL, FCC, EN, CCC, etc) 
  • Experience in wireless network engineering – cloud, AWS, Bluetooth, etc 
  • Experience working with analog sensors 
  • High volume manufacturing experience

 

Compensation and Benefits 

Individuals may be eligible for an annual performance bonus based on both individual and company’s performance. The final compensation for this position will be set based on the individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience as it relates to the job requirements.
