CDL A OR B DRIVER JOB SUMMARY
As a CDL- A or B Driver, you will create company and customer success by delivering our fresh fruit and produce orders, along with any other ancillary items included on customer orders, to their respective delivery locations. You may, at times, be asked to back haul product.Â
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Transport finished goods and raw materials over land to and from manufacturing plants or retail and distribution centersÂ
• Represent Carbonella & DeSarbo, Inc. in a professional, responsible, and respectful manner while driving and interacting with customersÂ
• Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenanceÂ
• Plan routes and meet delivery schedules • Document and log work/rest periods and kilometers/miles spent driving and retain fuel/toll receiptsÂ
• Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and proceduresÂ
• Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positionsÂ
• Collect and verify delivery instructionsÂ
• Report defects, accidents or violationsÂ
• Offload product using a pallet jack, forklift, hand truck, by hand, or other method depending upon available equipmentÂ
• Breakdown loads by hand at some customer locations, depending upon customer needsÂ
• Clearly indicate customer returns on customer invoices, and call into office with any and all customer returnsÂ
• Collect money, in the form of cash or check, where required, indicating the dollar amount and form of payment on each invoiceÂ
• Drive and work in inclement weather conditionsÂ
Qualifications and Requirements
• Possession of a valid state issued commercial driver’s license, Class A or B (CDL) is requiredÂ
• Proven work experience as a truck driverÂ
• Ability to drive long hours and travel regularlyÂ
• Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulationsÂ
• No recent moving or driving violationsÂ
• Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc)Â
• Willing to submit to background/drug checks and provide employment recommendationsÂ
• Driving record with no more than 6 penalty points within the last three (3) yearsÂ
• Pass a DOT certified medical examÂ
• May require demonstrated ability and proficiency operating a standard 10-speed transmissionÂ
• Ability to maintain physical balance to safely enter and exit transported vehiclesÂ
• Ability to apply pressure to winch down transported vehicles during the loading processÂ
Physical Demands and Abilities
• Primarily working in an outdoor environment; may include working at times in noisy and/or inclement weather conditionsÂ
• Extended periods of time sitting during driving transport equipment; repeatedly climbing up and down from transport equipmentÂ
• Regularly lift and/or move objects 10-75 lbs., occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 lbs.Â
• Flexible work hours with shifts that may include nights, weekends, and holidaysÂ
• Follow all O.S.H.A., and EPA standards including the use of Personal Protective Equipment, and proper waste disposal in required areasÂ
• Frequently required to enter and exit large refrigerated coolers, as well as work in warehouse open to outdoor temperatures during shipping and/or receiving. Must be able to tolerate working in temperatures ranging from 25 degrees up to 100 degrees; work environment may be cool and wetÂ
