Job Description:
500 Surgical is a fast paced consisting of 25 beds and a wide variety of patients. We commonly tend to patients that are post op for elective joint replacement procedures, colectomy, colostomy, gall bladder removal, appendix removal, amputations, fractures, mastectomy, bladder tumor and more. We also have medical overflow patients. Working on the surgical floor is hard but rewarding work. Maintaining accurate intake / output and encouraging early ambulation is essential to the post op patient. Following strict infection prevention measures is needed to provide the best care for those who need us. Teamwork is essential to success.The LPN performs administrative duties that include, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and data entry in medical records. Clinical duties will include measuring and recording vital signs, collecting demographics and medical information including review of medication list, preparing patients for examination, cleaning rooms and equipment and stocking supplies. This position will involve the administration of medications as ordered by the physician. Performs specific competencies as directed by the department.Education: â–ª Required: Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program Experience: â–ª Preferred: Previous nursing experience preferred Skills: â–ª Excellent verbal and written communication skills â–ª Demonstrates effective knowledge of scope of practice â–ª Exhibits valuable time management skills â–ª Strong critical thinking/problem solving skills â–ª Flexibility and ability to work in a multi-tasking environment Licensure/Certification/Registration: â–ª Required: LPN license and IV Certification active in the state of Missouri
