BASIC FUNCTION:



Incumbent is responsible for all scheduling tasks within the Medical Unit. Supports the administrative assistants as needed.



GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Receives and screens incoming phone calls. Accurately schedules requested appointments according to established protocol. Transfers calls within the department appropriately based on patient individual status and needs.
  2. Performs administrative duties required to provide adequate patient care.
  3. Notifies patients of changes to appointments or provider availability as needed. Responsible to handle appropriately any/all communications necessary for patient care, both incoming and outgoing.
  4. Generates memos, work/school notes, reports, and other correspondence as needed.
  5. Records all information necessary for patient care accurately, and ensures timely entry of all required data into the electronic health record.
  6. Documents all patient contacts according to the provisions of HIPAA and the Privacy Act of 1974.
  7. Directs patients through the medical unit when necessary.
  8. Performs general medical office duties. Responsible for all general maintenance, housekeeping, material stocking, and cleaning as needed in order to maintain a clean and sanitary workplace for the delivery of patient care.
  9. Participates and promotes Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) guidelines and procedures.
  10. Promotes a cooperative and cohesive workplace environment to maintain high quality services to patients.
  11. Upholds and promotes the value and integrity of the Seneca Nation Health System’s mission statement. Will promote SNHS in a positive manner.
  12. Provides care through a trauma-informed lens by incorporating key principles of both physical and psychological environment safety, trustworthiness and transparency, collaboration of decision-making during treatment plan developments, empowerment of patients by recognizing and building upon individual strengths, as well as recognizing and respecting the diversity of cultural backgrounds and sensitivity.
  13. Attends all mandatory staff meetings and in-services.
  14. Follows all policies and procedures of the department, Seneca Nation, and Seneca Nation Health System.

QUALIFICATIONS:



  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two or more years experience in clerical work, customer service or related field required.
  • Experience in a large hospital, academic medical center, outpatient health care setting, or Indian Health Service (IHS)/tribal health, preferred.
