Job Title: Bakery CookÂ
Purpose: To prepare excellent quality breakfast and dessert items in a timely and efficient manner: to accurately follow recipes; to assess and produce what is needed each day; support with catering events on site as needed.
Status: Reports to Assistant Bakery Manager
Customer Service:Â
- Assists customers with questions in a prompt and courteous mannerÂ
- Provide attentive and courteous customer serviceÂ
- Maintain a polite, friendly and helpful attitude towards internal and external customersÂ
- Product Knowledge:Â
- Knowledgeable about all bakery products. Continues to learn about new products. Ability to answer questions accurately.Â
- Product Presentation and Quality:Â
- Ensure quality food preparation, presentation and executionÂ
- Safety:Â
- Handles all equipment in a safe mannerÂ
- Alert to unsafe equipment and removes any equipment that is unsafe from usageÂ
- Teamwork:Â
- Ensures department teamwork through trust and communicationÂ
- Accountability:Â
- Accepts responsibility for personal decisions and actions. Exemplifies honesty, integrity and ethicsÂ
- Contributes constructively to the morale of the departmentÂ
- Shows initiative in solving issues and achieving the departmental goals
Job Specific Functions:Â
- Preparation of all bakery items promptly and efficiently as assignedÂ
- Facilitating all aspects of service, supporting catering events, and meals as needed including: maintaining the desserts and bakery rack items during store hours
- Ensure and facilitate kitchen cleanliness as needed or assignedÂ
- Ensure that equipment is well maintained, and to notify appropriate personnel of any equipment failures or malfunctions in a timely fashionÂ
- Put away orders – follow receiving protocols as defined in trainingÂ
- Ensure high quality of products, and quality standardsÂ
- Accurately follow recipes using proper measurements with a mind to menu specific alterations as directed by a supervisorÂ
- Maintain appropriate par levels of productÂ
- Maintain clean and orderly work stationsÂ
- Plan and participate in cleaning projects as assignedÂ
- Adhering to the site’s code of conduct as defined during trainingÂ
- Provide training to new team members as assignedÂ
- Adhere to established safety and sanitation standards
- Wash own dishes throughout shift, support dishwasher with bakery items
- Accurately inputting shrink data as needed
- Able to work in freezing temperatures to hot temperatures. Going from the kitchen to walk in freezer and back to collect ingredients as necessary.Â
- Able to stand for long periods of time, on your feet all shift up to 8 hrs a day
- Other duties as assignedÂ
Requirements
- Self-motivated, organized, responsible, flexibleÂ
- Effective communication skillsÂ
- Professional baking experience; 3-5 years practical application. Bread baking, pastry, culinary education, and catering production; large scale food service bakery production experience highly preferredÂ
- Quick and proficient cooking skills, knife work, and an understanding of large scale productionÂ
- Ability to lift 50 poundsÂ
- Ability to understand and follow directionsÂ
- Ability to understand and meet standards for health, safety, and excellenceÂ
- Ability to remain alert and focused in an environment that is noisy and fast-pacedÂ
- Ability to work effectively within a teamÂ
- Detail-oriented and thorough
