POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Radiology Director/Manager and/or Lead Technologist, the MRI Technologist will perform all MRI duties, as well as other related responsibilities as needed to facilitate workflow and promote healthcare. MRI Technologists will operate MRI equipment in a safe and competent manner to produce quality diagnostic images as directed by physicians, according to established standards and protocols.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assists physicians in invasive and non-invasive procedures using proper sterile technique as directed. 

 

  1. Perform MRI procedure as instructed.

 

  1. Obtains and reviews documentation before performing exam. i.e. Physician’s orders, consent and other forms, historical and contrast media questionnaire. 

 

  1. QC’s all exams in Cerner as the exam is completed to ensure accurate historical reporting data.

 

  1. Responsible for the thorough knowledge of MRI policies, procedures, equipment and supplies as well as the operation of PACS, RIS, and HIS programs.

 

  1. Takes an active part in patient education by explaining the examination process.

 

  1. Promotes positive patient relations in a caring environment by making patients comfortable and at ease during procedures.

 

  1. Transfers and positions patients using extreme care, patience, and proper body mechanics.

 

  1. Identifies patients using the hospitals double identification policy.

 

  1. Responds to back-up calls as needed within 30 minutes.

 

 

 

 

 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and hospital staff members.
  2. Independent thinking to exercise good judgment in determining actions in emergencies. 
  3. Other duties as assigned from time to time by the lead technologist, radiology manager and or director. 
  4. Adhere to the behavioral standards and other policies set forth by the district.
  5. Completion of all educational and other related requirements annually by the district. 
  6. Upkeep of all related professional licenses, including AHA-obtained BLS certifications.

 

 

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  1. Preferred - Associate of Arts degree in vocational MRI technology or a formal AMA approved educational program with certification. ARRT( MR ) Venipuncture certificate (California)

 

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  1. Position requirements – ARRT or ARMPIT Certification.
