POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Fund Development Director is responsible for conceptualizing, organizing, and implementing a comprehensive fundraising program. In addition, this position oversees related special events, submits and tracks YMCA grant funding requests, and leads assigned donor acquisition efforts. The Fund Development Director serves as a member of the association’s leadership team and serves a key role in facilitating and securing donations for our association.Â
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Create and implement fundraising strategies for the YMCA in collaboration with CEO.
- Responsible for all aspects of securing resources for the YMCA, including developing and executing targeted campaigns for employees, members, board, and community supporters.
- Develop case statements andkey messaging.
- Identify, prospect, and target new donors.
- Build relationships with new and existing donors and requestreferrals.
- Make direct donor contact and solicitation requests to new and existing donors.
- Educateand solicitYMCA members and donors onall three phases of donation opportunities (Endowment/Planned Giving Opportunities, Capital, AnnualGifts).
- Submit grant funding requests to businesses,foundationsand other entities.
- Manage the YMCA’s donor database.
- Cultivate, steward, and recognize YMCA donors year-round through in person, electronic, and personal communication.
- Train staff and volunteers in campaign set up, procedures and gift solicitation.Â
- Report regularly on progresstowardsreaching targets forfundraisingcampaigns.
- Establish contact with media representatives. Write and submit press releases when appropriate.
- Develop and managefundraisingbudget.
- Oversee the execution of fundraising events in each community.
- Attend community events and visit businesses in the community to promote the YMCA.
- Serve as a member of the association leadership staff team.
- Other duties as assigned.Â

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related work experience
- Previous marketing, sales, or fundraising related experience.
- Proven experience in cultivating and soliciting gifts.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic
segments of thecommunity. - Excellent verbal and written communication skillsare required,including the ability to write and edit grant proposals, reports, and summaries.
- Ability to effectively and professionally present information to a variety of audiences.
- Demonstrated working knowledge and fluency of digital literacy apps such as Zoom, Teams, Whiteboard as well as AI apps such as ChatGPT, etc.
- Ability to exercise sound judgement and management of confidential information.
- Ability to always demonstrate professional conduct.
- Experiencecollaboratingwith volunteers and committees to achieve desired outcomes.
- Workingknowledge of computers, Microsoft applications,social media technology,use of AI,and fundraising software and database management.
- Understanding of and enthusiasm for the YMCA’s mission and cause.
