POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Custodial Staff at the YMCA provides a clean, welcoming, safe, friendly, and supportive facility while fostering positive relationships with members and staff.Â
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for completing daily housekeeping/sanitizing work schedule in all assigned areas.
- Perform floor care and cleaning, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, stairs, and baseboard scrubbing.
- Cleaning of windows, windows, and door framework cleaning.
- Perform restroom and locker room cleaning/sanitation, including showers, partitions, toilets, urinals, sinks, counters, and changing rooms, but not limited to the men’s and women’s locker rooms and bathrooms.
- Conduct spot inspections to ensure proper standards are being met.
- Perform trash and recycle removal.
- Maintain and clean grounds, parking lots, and sidewalks including trash removal, snow removal, and ice-melt application.
- May assist with set up and clean up of rooms for special events, including carrying and lifting chairs and tables.
- Ensures adequate supplies are available for use.
- Ensures compliance with all OSHA work regulations.
- Assists with cleaning wellness equipment and rotation, as needed.
- Perform heavy cleaning duties on occasion, such as shampooing rugs, washing walls, and removing debris.
- Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous commercial cleaning experience is preferred
- CPR/AED and First Aid required within 90 days of hire
- Experience in custodial work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Ability to demonstrate detailed work with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to meet tight time constraints and organize tasks to meet deadlines.
