Job Title: Materials Co-op
Department: Engineering
Reports To: Engineering Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt/Hourly
Supervise the work of others: 聽No

Position Summary:
During this co-op experience, the student will be exposed to:聽

路 Planning, execute, analyze, summarize, and present various experiments which involve the use of tensile tester, DSC, rheometer, FTIR, and microscopy.

路 Learning fundamentals of chemistry for silicone rubbers, silicone adhesives, polyurethane, silanes聽

路 Getting acquainted with Minitab, data analysis, and design of experiments (DOE)

路 Working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment聽

聽Preferred candidates for this co-op:

路 Major Fields: Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemistry, or any related field

路 Have an interest in chemistry, polymers, and/or materials science.聽

a. Completion of college general chemistry with lab is required聽

b. Completion of an organic chemistry class is a plus

路 Previous hands-on related experiences from co-op and research will be a plus

路 Exposure to the basic statistical concept is a plus聽

路 Both undergraduate or masters students will be considered聽

Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret company procedures/policies, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. 聽Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.聽

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and volume. 聽Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.聽

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 聽Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.聽

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 聽Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.聽

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Maintains a valid Driver鈥檚 License. 聽

Skill to use a personal computer and various software packages such as Microsoft Office Suite. 聽Ability to establish priorities, work independently with minimal supervision, and facilitate teamwork.
