ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PURPOSE (Job Description)
The tool room Attendant is responsible to receive, track, and issue items procured for all NASSCO-Bremerton employees.
POSITION DEMANDS (Education/Training)
Typically have a High School Degree or equivalent plus a minimum of six (6) months directly related experience.
POSITION DEMANDS (Required Experience)
Knowledge in:
- Understanding of marine and industrial materials, equipment and tools for purposes of accurate identification.
- High School degree or equivalent
Skill in:
- Minimum 6 months experience in material control position or related field.
- Verbal and Written Communication skills.
- Able to lift 50 lbs
- Able to learn and effectively use company accounting and tool tracking software.
- Able to use and/or obtain an operators license for pallet trucks, forklifts, and commercial trucks.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to the Warehouse Manager. Works in a team environment with other Tool Room warehouse personnel. Maintains internal contact with Engineering, Estimating, Storeroom, Integrated Logistic Support, Production, and Quality Assurance. External contact maintained with NASSCO Suppliers and Customers. This position has no direct reports.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inventory, control, and coordinate the transfer of tools and equipment.
- Execute and maintain accurate transaction records for the issue and receipt of company tools (including rental items) and tool room materials.
- Assure compliance with company tool room policies.
- Inspect all materials and equipment received and verify correctness of shipment against purchase orders, packing slips and other shipping documents, Objective Quality Evidence and Certificates of Compliance or other validating information.
- Inspect all shipments received for damage and document same; report damage to the appropriate parties.
- Document and track the transfer of materials and equipment between locations; assure transferred items are properly packaged and handled.
- Assure all material and equipment tagging requirements are executed and maintained.
- Issue and receive company tools (including rental items) and tool room materials inventories and maintain accurate data base of all transactions.
- Order and track status of all consumables and equipment.
- Prepare all calibration equipment for shipment and process and retain all new certifications.
ACCOUNTABILITY
Accountable to the Warehouse Supervisor for accuracy of inventory and tracking of tools.

UNIQUE/ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have reliable record of attendance and punctuality and be available for overtime as required.Must be able to physically transit all areas of the facility.Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects or controls, and to talk and hear. Must have good eye/hand coordination. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must be able to gain access to all work locations including government and private ship yards and/or vessels.
Pay Range: $21.54 - $28.27 Hourly
The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity. At NASSCO Bremerton we anticipate making salary offers between the minimum and midpoint of salary range. Offers will be based on experience, abilities, and knowledge similar to the NASSCO Job being applied for NASSCO employees performing similar work.
