Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Paraprofessional to join our Day Treatment Program team. As a Paraprofessional, you will supervise and provide therapeutic support to consumers enrolled in the program, fostering positive relationships and assisting students with mild to severe behavioral problems. Primary Responsibilities:
Ā 

  • Provide 1:1 assistance to students with behavioral challenges, including those who may be physically and verbally aggressive.Ā 
  • Act as a caring adult engaging with students to establish positive and healthy relationships.Ā 
  • Collaborate with the team to maintain a positive, structured, and therapeutic milieu to meet emotional, developmental, and educational needs.Ā 
  • Conduct direct observation of students within the milieu.Ā 
  • Participate in 1:1 intervention to encourage compliance with program expectations and address barriers to successful completion.Ā 
  • Assist students in conflict resolution, appropriate expression, and behavior improvement.Ā 
  • Work with the team to implement behavioral programs and intervention plans.Ā 
  • Contribute to daily and weekly student summaries and level rating forms.Ā 
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all required paperwork.Ā 
  • Support other school programs and participate in program field trips and activities as needed.Ā

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED

Ā 

EXPERIENCE: Entry level (1 year of prior experience working with children)

Ā 

Valid Washington Food Handler card.

Ā 

LICENSURE: Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration

Ā 

PerRCW 28A.400.303, employees of contractors with school districts that ā€œhave regularly scheduled unsupervised access to childrenā€ are required to go through FBI fingerprinting.Ā 

Madrona requires a Food Handler’s Permit, preferred for Sequoia Program and Restorative School.

Ā 

Preferred Qualifications:

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, social services, or behavioral health fieldĀ 

EXPERIENCE: Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience)

Relevant experience working with clients with severe and persistent mental illness.

Experience working with Special Education population strongly.

Experience with milieu treatment along with educational or classroom management.

Educational or classroom management experience.

The capacity to work well with children and families.

Possess and maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle report.
