Volkert is seeking an experienced Engineering Office Manager to lead our Brentwood, TN office within our Gulf Region. This role serves as Principal-in-Charge, providing strategic leadership in operations, business development, and roadway design while driving growth across our Tennessee transportation market.

What you’ll be doing:

Own the strategic direction, financial performance, and operational success of the Brentwood office
Drive aggressive business development efforts with TDOT and municipal clients
Identify, pursue, and win transportation opportunities across Tennessee
Serve as senior technical authority for roadway design and complex transportation projects
Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing engineering team
Develop pursuit strategies, lead interviews, and strengthen key client partnerships
Oversee project delivery to ensure profitability, quality, and schedule performance
Collaborate with regional leadership to expand market share and cross-office growth

What you need to have:

B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Tennessee
15+ years of progressive transportation/roadway engineering experience
5+ years leading engineering teams
Proven success driving business development and winning work
Experience working with TDOT and local transportation agencies
Demonstrated leadership in managing engineering teams and office operations
Strong financial acumen and project management expertise
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
Valid driver’s license
A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
