More about our team 

The Manager, Environment of Care is responsible for conducting surveys as a member of the Survey Readiness Assessment (SRA) Team, to ensure certain hospitals maintain compliance with local, national, and federal codes & regulations as they relate to Environment of Care (EOC) and Life Safety related standards. Prepare facility for the Joint Commission Inspection (JCI) and other inspections by regulatory agencies such as Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and state agencies. Consult with facilities, at times other than during surveys, on resolving issues or concerns with specific items such as airflow in sensitive areas, hazardous materials, safety, and security management. 

 

How you’ll contribute 

A Manager, Facilities Environment of Care who excels in this role will:

  • Serves as the key resource and supports Facilities Management departments across the company.

  • Develops, implements standardized EOC, LS and EM programs within the company. 

  • Prepare new and existing facilities for Joint Commission and CIHQ surveys and other inspections by regulatory agencies such as Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and state agencies.

  • Perform on-site facility inspections and survey readiness assessments to verify conditions of compliance at each facility. 

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on behavioral health specific requirements in the physical environment, such as security/door locking arrangements, ligature risks, and suicide prevention.

  • Consult with facilities on resolving issues or concerns with specific items such as airflow in sensitive areas, hazardous materials, safety, and security management.

  • Review of written survey results, providing recommendations on corrective and required action deficiencies/verifying corrected deficiencies.

  • Evaluate and review data collection and data management by facility engineering.

  • Oversight of preventative and predictive maintenance systems for facilities, continuously improving productivity, reliability and costs. 

  • Provide training to facility directors on the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

  • Maintains documentation and verifies that hospitals are in compliance with the CMMS as it relates to the Physical Environment and Life Safety

  • Provide oversight in training on SDS.

  • Inspect facilities and confirm compliance with the CMS, Joint Commissions and CIHQ standards.   

  • Inspect facilities for ligature points and educate facility director. 

  • Distribute reports to appropriate personnel and follow up on corrective actions required by each facility.

  • Assists in the education of facility engineers at the direction of the Director of Facilities Management, EOC and LS in developing educational programs to be used by facility engineers, and for the DPO educational sessions when applicable.

  • Will attend educational seminars as required to maintain up to date knowledge and skills as they relate to Life Safety Management.

  • Able to effectively support, work with and through other departments as required to meet company objectives.

What we’re looking for 

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. 
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years in related field.
  • Certifications: Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP) or Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) preferred. 
  • Travel: Extensive overnight travel (over 50%) by land and/or air.
