The Electric Shop Supervisors primary responsibility is to oversee and coordinate the daily activities of the production team in the manufacturing of electric pumps. You will be a crucial link between the production floor workers and the management team, ensuring smooth operations, high-quality output, and adherence to production schedules. 

This team supervisor will play a crucial role in driving the success of the manufacturing process, ensuring the production team operates efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards and a safe working environment. 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:  To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Team Supervision: Lead and manage a team of production technicians and operators. Assign tasks, provide direction, and monitor their performance to ensure productivity and efficiency.

  • Production Coordination: Collaborate with the production planning department to schedule and prioritize the manufacturing process, ensuring timely completion of orders and on-time delivery.

  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all products meet the required quality standards. Implement and enforce quality control procedures to minimize defects and rework, striving for continuous improvement.

  • Safety Compliance: Promote a culture of safety in the production area. Train and educate team members on safety protocols, and ensure compliance with all relevant safety guidelines and regulations.

  • Process Improvement: Identify areas for process optimization and efficiency gains. Propose and implement improvements to enhance production output, reduce waste, and optimize resource utilization.

  • Training and Development: Assess the skill levels of team members and identify training needs. Provide training and mentorship to enhance the team's capabilities and ensure a well-trained workforce.

  • Inventory Management: Oversee inventory levels of raw materials and components required for production. Coordinate with the supply chain team to maintain an adequate supply without excess inventory.

  • Troubleshooting: Address production issues and challenges promptly. Work with the maintenance team to resolve equipment breakdowns and technical problems to minimize downtime.

  • Reporting: Keep accurate records of production metrics, including output, downtime, and efficiency. Generate regular reports for management to track progress and identify areas of improvement.

  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in production meetings and collaborate with other departments to identify and implement strategies for continuous improvement in production processes.

QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Education and Experience: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required. Additional relevant certifications or vocational training may be preferred.

  • Knowledge: Proven experience in manufacturing and production processes, with specific knowledge of electric pump production being advantageous.  Familiarity with manufacturing processes and components is desirable.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide the production team effectively.

  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and time management skills to effectively prioritize tasks, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet production deadlines.

  • Communication and Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams. The production coordinator should be able to collaborate and coordinate with various departments and stakeholders.

  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Analytical mindset and problem-solving skills to identify issues, analyze root causes, and implement effective solutions in a dynamic production environment.

  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in production records, quality control processes, and adherence to specifications.

  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in using production management software, spreadsheet applications, and other relevant tools for data analysis and reporting.

  • Leadership and Teamwork: Ability to lead and motivate a team, foster a positive work environment, and work effectively as part of a collaborative team.

Other Relevant Qualifications:

  • Skilled at multi-tasking with flexibility and adaptability to changing schedules and shifting priorities.

  • Possess knowledge of customer ordering and inventory practices and fulfillment processes. 

  • Good working knowledge of the processes and systems that reside across the supply chain. 

  • Possess strong analytical skills and overall business acumen knowledge. 

  • Excellent math and logical thinking skills. 

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written); proven ability to communicate effectively cross functionally within the company.

  • Excellent MS Office skills. 

  • Ability to work off hours and overtime (including weekends) as needed. 

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, JIT and Kanban is a plus. 

  • Candidate must be able to work in a team environment that demands a cooperative approach in addressing issues, a willingness to contribute to problem solving efforts, a helpful nature in assisting coworkers, and a positive attitude.

The estimated salary range for this position is $90,000 to $120,000 plus an annual 10% bonus.

 Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.  At Xylem we offer a competitive compensation package with a generous benefit package, including Medical, Dental, Vision plans, 401(k) with company contribution, paid time off, paid parental leave and tuition reimbursement.
