Job Title: Press Brake Operator

Reports To: Press Brake Lead

Employment Type: Full-Time, On-Site 

  

Job Summary:

The Press Brake Operator is responsible for operating, and maintaining press brake machines to bend and form metal components according to specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of metal fabrication processes, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high-quality products while adhering to safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Machine Operation:
    • Operate press brake machines to bend and form metal sheets and components as per engineering specifications.
    • Select appropriate tooling and setup parameters for various forming operations.
    • Monitor machine operations during production to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Quality Control:
    • Conduct inspections of parts to verify they meet specified dimensions and tolerances.
    • Use measuring instruments such as calipers, tape measures, and protractors to check dimensions.
    • Document inspection results and report any deviations or quality issues to the supervisor, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Maintenance and      Safety:
    • Perform routine maintenance on press brake machines, including cleaning, lubrication, and tool changes.
    • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines while operating machinery
    • Identify and report any equipment malfunctions, maintenance needs, or safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.
  • Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate records of production runs, including quantities produced, machine settings, and any issues encountered.
    • Complete necessary paperwork related to production, quality control, and machine maintenance.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Work closely with other operators, production staff, and supervisors to achieve production goals.
    • Assist in training new operators on press brake operation, safety procedures, and quality standards.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for process improvements and efficiencies.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Technical or vocational training in metal fabrication, machining, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 1-3 years of experience as a press brake operator or in a similar metal fabrication role.
    • Familiarity with operating press brake machines and understanding of metal bending processes.
  • Skills:
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise specifications.
    • Good mathematical skills and ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
    • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to [weight limit, typically 25-50 pounds].
  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with press brakes and advanced bending techniques.
  • Knowledge of quality control procedures and inspection techniques.
  • Forklift certification or experience with material handling equipment is a plus.
