Summary

This position is responsible for working with Sales and Operations to cost, quote, and create routings for customer orders. This position will liaison customer requirements and operational capabilities to be cost efficient while maintaining all customer specifications. Interfaces with and provides quality detail and support to customers, management and manufacturing operations for quotes, routings and finished goods. The position is responsible for coordination with the manufacturing teams to ensure the production of quality products made on-time, in support with GLE – Precision Solutions business growth and strategic objectives

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create detailed and accurate Quotes, Routings and CAD drawings.
  • Daily use of ERP system for a variety of tasks, including routing, quoting, purchasing, and planning. 
  • Establish and load accurate cost models based on determined process steps.
  • Engage with grinding operators to troubleshoot solutions and implement changes to improve job routing and process steps/costing model.
  • Communication with customers is required to define and clarify customer requirements.
  • Interpreting and translating data from customers PO’s and prints.
  • Supports problem solving for contract review, quoting, order entry and other front end process improvement needs related to accuracy, quality, lead time and cost.
  • Develop/maintain educational material and provide training as needed.
  • Help define and develop performance improvement targets for quality, service, and efficiency.
  • Implement and train others on ERP, QMS, and CRM systems to ensure that services and products conform to regulatory requirements.
  • Process customer purchase orders as well as manufacturing order entry for production. 
  • Quickly respond to customer inquiries: providing quotes, status updates, and ensure customer needs are met.

Education and/or Work Experience

  • 2 years Engineering sciences, BA or BS preferred; or a equivalent of higher education and experience.
  • Lean daily management, and high mix/low volume production environment a plus
  • 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing environment with increasing responsibility
  • Good customer communication skills in support of internal and external customers.
  • Must have good written and verbal commination skills.
  • Proficient with presentation and other documentation applications such as Visio, MS Project and PowerPoint
  • Ability to read and interpret product drawings.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred in grinding operations:  Carbide / Ceramics / or steel products.
  • Knowledge of problem-solving processes and tools i.e. Project Management, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma.

Technical Skills/Physical Requirements

  • Proven problem-solving capabilities; proficient in use of problem-solving-tools (5-Why, A3, Noise to Constant, DOE)
  • Demonstrated implementation of lean principles and/or six sigma methodologies
  • Must have excellent data analysis skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills are a must
  • Excellent communication skills are required
  • Communicates effectively with customers, vendors to determine products specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards
  • Drafting - use of CAD or Solid works
  • Travel generally not required
