What You'll Do

As the Student Loan Advisor, you'll serve as a trusted resource for current students and graduates by providing guidance, education, and support throughout the student loan repayment process. You'll play a key role in helping students understand their repayment options while supporting the school's compliance with federal default management requirements.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct entrance and exit loan counseling for students.
  • Monitor student loan default rates and support compliance with federal regulations.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with graduates during the federal default tracking period.
  • Assist current and former students in understanding repayment options, including deferment, forbearance, and other default prevention solutions.
  • Conduct financial literacy, budgeting, and student loan education workshops.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to default prevention activities.
  • Update and maintain student records and contact information.
  • Serve as a liaison between students, loan servicers, lenders, and guaranty agencies.
  • Perform skip tracing activities to locate borrowers when necessary.
  • Provide backup support to the Financial Aid Department during peak periods or staff absences.
  • Assist with tuition reimbursement plans and other student account matters.
  • Stay current on federal regulations and best practices related to student loan repayment and default prevention.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in credit, collections, financial aid, or a related field.
  • Some post-secondary education or relevant professional training preferred.
