Cumberland County Guidance Center is seeking a Full-Time Certified Screener to join our Crisis Screening Center team.

If you're passionate about crisis intervention, behavioral health, emergency mental health services, and helping individuals during their most vulnerable moments, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact every day.

In this role, you'll provide mental health assessments, crisis evaluations, stabilization services, and referral coordination for individuals experiencing psychiatric and emotional emergencies. You'll work alongside a supportive team of behavioral health professionals dedicated to delivering compassionate, person-centered care throughout Cumberland County.

What You'll Do

As a Certified Screener, you'll play a critical role in helping individuals access immediate mental health support and appropriate levels of care.

Responsibilities include:

  • Responding to crisis hotline calls and behavioral health referrals
  • Conducting comprehensive mental health screenings and assessments
  • Providing crisis intervention and therapeutic support
  • Assessing risk factors and determining service needs
  • Conducting face-to-face crisis evaluations
  • Assisting with psychiatric stabilization and emergency interventions
  • Coordinating referrals and level-of-care recommendations
  • Collaborating with hospitals, law enforcement, treatment providers, and community agencies
  • Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and compliance standards

What You'll Need

Required Qualifications

Option 1

  • Master's Degree in a mental health-related field
  • Minimum one year of psychiatric or behavioral health experience

OR

Option 2

  • Bachelor's Degree in a mental health-related field
  • Minimum three years of mental health experience
  • At least one year in a crisis, emergency, or acute-care setting

Additional Requirements

  • NJDMHS Crisis Training Certification or ability to obtain certification
  • Valid New Jersey driver's license
  • Acceptable driving record
  • Ability to work overnight shifts
  • Strong assessment, crisis intervention, communication, and documentation skills
