Intern - Data Engineering

Hussmann's Internship Program provides meaningful, real-life experiences while working as a solutions leader in the food retailing industry. Hussmann interns receive competitive compensation, participate in community stewardship, network with company leadership, and learn about career opportunities available at Hussmann. 

As a Data Engineering intern in the 2027 Hussmann Summer Internship Program, you will gain experience with large datasets, developing data infrastructure, and using tools and technologies that support data-driven decision-making. 

• Clean and validate data sets to ensure accuracy for downstream analytics teams. 
• Collaborate with the team using Git to manage code and track project updates. 
• Network with senior leaders, associates, and other program interns to learn about our organization. 
• Tour Hussmann's 1.6 million square foot manufacturing facility, our Global Hub for hosting customers, and the R&D Lab where we test product quality. 
• Participate in community stewardship outreach, career development events, and other team-building offsite events. 
• Compete in the annual Ideation & Innovation Challenge. 

Ideation & Innovation Challenge: Throughout the twelve-week program, all Hussmann interns will divide into cross-functional teams and compete with one another for the Hussmann Ideation & Innovation Challenge. Working with Hussmann mentors and leaders, you and your team will identify a solution to a provided problem statement. At the end of the summer, you’ll present your team’s business proposal to a panel of judges, executive leaders, and the organization – and possibly create a roadmap for Hussmann’s next great innovation. 

• Currently enrolled in school pursuing a minimum of a bachelor’s degree  
• Minimum 3.0 GPA  
• Basic understanding of cloud infrastructure, specifically core AWS services. 
• Good foundational knowledge of SQL and basic programming skills in Python. 
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
• Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization   
• Highly analytical, proactive problem solver, and eager to learn complex data architectures. 
• Ability to relocate, if not local  

The summer internship will run from the third week of May through the first week of August. These dates may be changed to meet the needs of the student.
