Overview

Hussmann's Internship Program provides meaningful, real-life experiences while working as a solutions leader in the food retailing industry. Hussmann interns receive competitive compensation, participate in community stewardship, network with company leadership, and learn about career opportunities available at Hussmann. 

 

As a Sales Support Specialist Intern in the 2027 Hussmann Summer Internship Program, you will gain experience and insight into the day in the life of a Sales Support professional. You will work across the Walmart, Target, Amazon/ Whole Foods team to provide Customer support.  


Responsibilities

  • You will have the opportunity to work on:   
  • Learn how customer orders move through the business by assisting with order entry, invoicing, and fulfillment processes. 

     

  • Help document and improve internal processes through process mapping and the development of job aids. 

     

  • Review reports and identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, and customer service. 

     

  • Assist with inventory, freight, and intercompany issue tracking to support day-to-day operations. 

     

  • Gain exposure to vendor management activities, including vendor setup and invoice review. 

     

  • Support Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) monitoring and help resolve transaction-related issues. 

     

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure orders and customer requests are processed accurately and efficiently. 

     

  • Network with senior leaders, associates, and other program interns to learn about our organization. 

     

  • Tour Hussmann's 1.6 million square foot manufacturing facility, our Global Hub for hosting customers, and the R&D Lab where we test product quality. 

     

  • Participate in community stewardship outreach, career development events, and other team-building offsite events.

  • Compete in our annual Ideation & Innovation Challenge. 

     

Ideation & Innovation Challenge: Throughout the twelve-week program, all Hussmann interns will divide into cross-functional teams and compete with one another for the Hussmann Ideation & Innovation Challenge. Working with Hussmann mentors and leaders, you and your team will identify a solution to a provided problem statement. At the end of the summer, you’ll present your team’s business proposal to a panel of judges, executive leaders, and the organization – and possibly create a roadmap for Hussmann’s next great innovation. 


Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in school pursuing a minimum of a bachelor’s degree  
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA  
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills  
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.   
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization   
  • Ability to set priorities, manage multiple projects, and demonstrate strong attention to detail   
  • Highly motivated and eager to learn   
  • Strong computer skills: Fluent in PowerPoint and Excel 
  • Ability to relocate, if not local 

 

The summer internship will run from the third week of May through the first week of August. These dates may be changed to meet the needs of the student.
