At Young, YOU are at the core of what we do.   Position Overview: The Quality Control Chemist will be responsible for overall testing of raw materials and finished goods as part of the chemical manufacturing process at Young Dental in Earth City, MO.  Products tested include fluoride pastes, fluoride varnishes, and other various products related to the dental industry.   You’ll like this role if: You thrive in a fast-paced environment and can adapt quickly to changing priorities. Who you’ll work with: The Quality Control Chemist reports directly to the Lab Supervisor.  This role interacts daily with production.   What You’ll Do: Perform receiving inspection of incoming raw materials. Performing sampling of raw materials and bulk products. Inspect/test all incoming raw materials and bulk products related to chemical product lines. Perform final approval and release of raw materials and bulk products upon completion of all testing and documentation. Collect and maintain storage of retain samples for each chemical raw material used in production. Inspect and analyze in-process chemical products and finished goods Utilize GLP to perform Chemical and Microbiological tests to ensure products meet specifications. Perform final approval and release of finished goods after completion of all testing and documentation Perform investigations to determine root cause of out-of-specification results. Support overall quality system of the site Initiate, conduct, and perform IQ, OQ, PQ validations for new products, processes, and equipment. Support stability study program for all product lines. Track and maintain retain room for finished good retain samples. Follow cGMP and safety procedures to maintain a safe and efficient working environment. Utilize GDP with all documentation Establish and maintain specifications for finished products, bulk products, and raw materials. QualificationsWhat You’ll Bring: Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or equivalent science degree. At least 2 years of relevant experience in a QC Lab environment or equivalent combination of education and experience. Technical Skills Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Power Point, Word and Outlook)   Physical Requirements/Working Locations   Manufacturing/Distribution Environment This position operates in a manufacturing plant environment. The role routinely involves working around machinery, equipment, and moving mechanical parts. The facility may be subject to varying temperatures, loud noise levels, and airborne particles such as dust or chemical fumes, depending on the area of the plant. This role may require periods of standing, sitting, or walking throughout the workday. Occasional bending, lifting, or carrying items up to 50 pounds may be necessary.   Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, control, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk. Hearing abilities required for this environment include being able to clearly hear and respond to audible alarms, production equipment, forklifts, and other machinery to maintain a safe work environment.
