Geo-Technology Associates, Inc. (GTA) is currently seeking a Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer with 1-5 years of experience to join our team in Bridgeville, PA.

Candidate must reside in the Pittsburgh area or the broader Southwestern Pennsylvania region. This position requires a strong local presence, and relocation assistance is not available at this time.

General Primary Duties

  • Perform advanced observations or tests to support the COT group. These tests may include but are not limited to foundation inspections or proofrolls.
  • Coordinate aspects of drilling projects (utility clearance procedures, oversight of subsurface explorations, site characterization, and visual soil classification)
  • Coordinate and review laboratory testing
  • Prepare geotechnical exploration reports, or pertinent sections thereof (including appropriate figures, test results, and final exploration logs)
  • Perform routine calculations, including settlement, bearing capacity, lateral earth pressures, pavement section designs, slope stability, etc. under the training of senior staff
  • Support senior staff in the design and preparation of plans for retaining walls and other structures
  • Communicate with supervisors and others by phone during the course of the workday
  • Business development duties are generally limited to assisting senior staff with proposals, but personnel should always be attentive to marketing opportunities

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, geology or related field of study required
  • 1 - 5 years of experience required
  • Prior experience in geotechnical investigations and construction observation & testing required
  • Must have computer literacy in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Outlook.

Certifications/Licenses

  • Valid driver’s license (and legal, operable, personal vehicle for field work; mileage reimbursement provided)
  • EIT or PE (preferred),
  • May also be required to have and/or receive applicable certifications within a specified time frame after the date of hire
