PAY RATE: $65K - $70K DOE

POSITION

The Ski & Ride School Manager oversees the daily operations of the ski & ride school during the winter as well as the mountain bike school and adventure park programs in the summer. The primary focus of this role will be on supporting the department's frontline leaders and staff members, ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of lesson products, maintaining high-quality standards, and delivering exceptional guest experiences. This role will work closely with the Snowsports Director, Teams Manager, department supervisors and administrators to ensure all payroll, worker compensation, incident reports, staffing levels, inventory levels, disciplinary procedures, training requirements, hiring, and separating procedures as well as all other administrative functions are managed efficiently and timely.

SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Hospitality, Business Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).

• Proven experience (5 years) in a leadership role within a ski & ride school or outdoor recreation environment.

• Strong leadership and organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to support, motivate, and adapt to teams effectively, reading and responding to individual needs with empathy and fairness.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities across 1:1, group, and cross-functional settings, with the ability to balance guest satisfaction and employee experience.

• In-depth knowledge of ski school operations, safety procedures, and industry best practices.

• Skilled in the use of digital tools including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

• Understanding of HRIS, CMS and LMS programs such as RTP, Flaik, and Workday (or similar).

• Proficiency in managing budgets, schedules, and resources efficiently.

• Level 2 PSIA/AASI or equivalent snow sports instruction qualification required. Level 3 preferred

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Coordinate a team of supervisors to oversee on-hill and indoor staff to plan for and manage daily operations.

• Lead and supervise all functions of the ski school, including scheduling, staffing, inventory, timekeeping, and resource allocation to optimize efficiency. Employ industry best practices, synthesizing data and experience to make sound, timely decisions that forecast and plan for future business while improving staff utilization, even in fast-paced or ambiguous conditions.

• Recruit, train, and manage a team of supervisors, instructors, and support staff by selecting the right people, developing their skills, and helping new team members acclimate quickly, fostering a positive work environment and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Lead with integrity and the resort's values, setting clear expectations and delivering honest, actionable feedback, crucial conversations, performance reviews, and assistance in the evaluation process of all operational staff.

• Uphold a guest-centric approach, overseeing the delivery of high-quality lesson experiences, ensuring guest satisfaction, and resolving any issues promptly. Take ownership and stay persistent in driving results, determining and tracking guest experience metrics throughout the season and promptly addressing issues as they arise

• Work with the risk and safety department to adhere to policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Determine and track employee and guest incidents while implementing necessary improvements.

• Work closely with counterparts in other departments such as IT, mountain operations, sales, and rentals to enhance employee experience, guest engagement, and contribute to overall business success.

• Draft revenue, labor, and expense budgets in partnership with the Snowsports Director, and manage expenditures to optimize resources while maintaining quality standards.
