Title: Datacomm Cabling Manager

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Datacomm Cabling Manager who takes pride in leading clean, reliable, and well-coordinated cabling projects. The ideal candidate will oversee structured cabling teams and projects from planning through completion, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, within scope, and in alignment with customer expectations and Magna5 standards.
This role requires strong field leadership, project coordination, technical cabling knowledge, and clear communication with technicians, customers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams. The Datacomm Cabling Manager will help ensure every installation reflects Magna5’s commitment to quality, responsiveness, trust, transparency, and proactive problem solving.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate datacomm cabling projects from kickoff through completionÂ
- Supervise cabling technicians, subcontractors, and field crews on job sitesÂ
- Plan daily work activities, assign tasks, and monitor progress against project timelinesÂ
- Ensure structured cabling installations meet project scope, customer requirements, and applicable standardsÂ
- Oversee installation, routing, termination, testing, labeling, and documentation of Cat 5e, Cat 6, fiber-optic, coaxial, AV, and low-voltage cabling systemsÂ
- Review and interpret blueprints, floor plans, wiring diagrams, scopes of work, and project documentationÂ
- Coordinate site surveys, material needs, labor planning, cutovers, and project closeout activities Communicate project status, risks, issues, and next steps clearly with customers, managers, and internal teamsÂ
- Identify and resolve field issues proactively to keep projects movingÂ
- Ensure crews maintain clean, organized, and safe work areasÂ
- Monitor quality control and verify work is completed neatly, accurately, and professionally Support procurement coordination, material tracking, order status, and vendor communication Maintain accurate project documentation, test results, as-builts, change notes, and closeout recordsÂ
- Enforce safety protocols, OSHA requirements, and company policies at all timesÂ
- Support customer satisfaction, project profitability, and successful handoff to operations or support teams
Requirements
Required:
- 3+ years of structured cabling, datacomm, low-voltage, or network infrastructure installation experience
- 1+ year of crew lead, foreman, supervisor, or field management experience
Hands-on knowledge of Cat 5e, Cat 6, fiber-optic, coaxial, AV, and low-voltage cabling systems - Experience with cable routing, termination, testing, labeling, documentation, and cable management
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, wiring diagrams, rack elevations, and scopes of workÂ
- Strong understanding of TIA/EIA standards and best practices for structured cabling installations
Confident using cabling tools, testers, hand tools, power tools, ladders, and lifts safely - Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage crews, schedules, materials, and multiple active jobs
- Professional communication skills with customers, technicians, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Ability to identify project risks, field issues, material gaps, and scope changes early
- Experience tracking project progress, labor hours, materials, documentation, and closeout requirements
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
Preferred:
- BICSI Installer, Technician, RCDD, or equivalent certification
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Experience managing subcontractors or multiple field crews
- Experience with fiber/copper circuit provisioning
- Familiarity with PoE, wireless access points, cameras, access control, AV, VoIP, or network device installation
- Experience coordinating data center, MDF/IDF, rack, cabinet, and pathway installations
- Knowledge of network testing, certification tools, and acceptance procedures
- Experience with project management, ticketing, or workflow systems such as MS Project, Smartsheet, Monday.com, ServiceNow, ConnectWise, or similar platforms
Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Stand, bend, kneel, climb, and reach for extended periods
- Work on ladders, lifts, and in tight or elevated spaces as needed
- Travel to job sites as required
- Work in commercial, industrial, data center, and occasionally residential environments
- Follow all OSHA and company safety requirements
Hours and LocationÂ
- 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday shifts with willingness to participate in off hours work and share on-call dutiesÂ
- On site in Bristol, PAÂ
