Overview

Horton, Inc. has an opening for an Electronics Technician 2 to work at our Britton, South Dakota location. This is a 1st shift position and standard work hours are Monday-Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm. Occasional overtime may be required. Pay starts at $28.47 per hour and will increase depending on experience.

 

Position Summary:

Builds, modifies, and repairs electronic controls and facility systems and equipment, working closely with manufacturing services, engineering staff, and outside vendors to maintain and develop improvements for robotics, facility systems and equipment.

Responsibilities

Electronics Technician 2 Responsibilities Overview:

  • Provides 24-hour service to maintenance and production to restore malfunctioning machines to operating condition as quickly as possible.
  • Maintains records of maintenance activities in the area of electronic controls.
  • Assists with installation of new equipment working closely with manufacturing-vendor to follow prescribed installation and setup.
  • Supports engineering by drawing specifications, outlining procedures, procuring components or materials and performing research activities.
  • Modifies existing equipment by installing upgrades, including logic, controller, PLC's and programming.
  • Meet with vendors to learn about electronic and control availability, new products pertinent to facilities, systems, and robots. 
  • Assist Manufacturing Engineering with robot and equipment upgrades to improve standards of operation.
  • Responds to requests to diagnose and repair basic and complex controls that are not functioning properly.
  • Performs work within a variety of technical fields, including electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic and controls.
  • Works in concert with other maintenance staff, outside vendors or equipment service providers to diagnose and repair equipment.
  • Specify and install safety light curtains, electrical controls, and programming on machinery and equipment.
  • Work with Safety Committee and Safety Managers to address any safety related control systems to assure employee safety.
  • Industrial Robot programming     
  • Technician training

 

Qualifications

Electronics Technician 2 Qualifications:

  • Prefere a 2-year technical degree or diploma in electronics or a closely related field, plus 3 years of related work experience.
  • If no degree, then 7 years of related work experience will be considered.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude are paramount
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States. No Visa sponsorship provided now or in the future for this position.
